We all have an inner child, a part of our Ego that relates to the world based on the beliefs that were formed in the formative years of our life. Many life experiences that feel familiar to the experiences you had as a child can trigger the inner child to awaken and act out in various ways to get its needs met.

 

Think of the basic needs of any child and you will generally understand the basic needs of your inner child. They need to feel loved. They need to feel safe. They need to feel heard and they need to play. The inner child does not tend to understand adult concepts like "hard work" and "proving oneself to make it in the world". Its desires are much more innocent than that. Its desires tend to gear more towards basic needs being met, creativity, adventure, and exploration.   →Read More in Michelle's blog
