Love itself is never painful.

The experience of being "in love" that causes all the pain and misery is not the love itself, but the belief that something or someone outside of us is the one creating the feeling of love and connection and therefore it can be taken away from us.

Peace, and a deeper unconditional love, comes in the realization that you have been the one creating that feeling of "in love" all along. That the object of your adoration is actually the receiver of that love, not the creator, and that the love you felt was already within you in an unlimited amount.

This week think of an experience now or in the past when you felt hurt or upset by someone you love because they did not reflect to you the love you were hoping to experience. Next, think of a time when you felt truly connected to all of life and full of love without any one else being around. Now, view that previous experience with the one you love from that connected, love-filled part of yourself and see what happens. What feels different? What looks different? How do you see this experience differently from that place of wholeness and connection? Have fun with this. Try it out with other similar experiences. Enjoy the awareness unfolding.
