Star Barn Get Involved and Submit Your Own "THIS PLACE MATTERS" Photo

Preservation Pennsylvania is dedicated to helping people protect and preserve the historic places that matter to them. Through our Partners in the Field program, we have reached out to communities across the Commonwealth to identify at risk properties, coordinate grassroots advocacy efforts and establish preservation plans.

In honor of National Historic Preservation Month, Preservation Pennsylvania is launching a statewide campaign in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to highlight the Commonwealth's historic places that matter.

We need your help to make this campaign a success!

Please download a "This Place Matters" sign and follow the  instructions available online to submit your own photos.  Each month, we will feature a newly submitted "This Place Matters" photo in our e-newsletter and on our soon-to-be launched Facebook page. Get involved and share your stories about the historic places that matter to you!
Fricks LockStories from the Field

Partners in the Field, a joint program of Preservation Pennsylvania  and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, enables our Field Representatives to deliver direct technical assistance and hands-on preservation expertise to local organizations and communities.

Over the past few months, Field Representatives Dave Kimmerly and Erin Hammerstedt have travelled across the Commonwealth to respond to numerous requests for assistance. Most recently, Dave Kimmerly visited Fricks Lock Historic District to work with the Chester County Dept. of Parks and Recreation and the East Coventry Historical Commission to explore Section 106 issues in the village and to prevent further vandalism and demolition (pictured above).  Erin Hammerstedt is currently working with Sunbury Revitalization, Inc. to explore preservation options for the acquisition and rehabilitation of the Sunbury Market House.

To learn more about our Field Representatives' current projects or to request assistance for your own preservation needs, please contact Erin Hammerstedt or Dave Kimmerly
La RondaLa Ronda Landmark Threatened with Demolition

One of the Philadelphia region's finest examples of Mediterranean Revival architecture and Pennsylvania's only work by renowned architect Addison Mizner is at risk. The owners of "La Ronda," a 1929 Villanova estate house, plan to demolish and replace the 14,000-sq-ft. foot landmark.
