Kindergarten Pre-Registration continues this week. If you know a child who will be 5 on or before September 1, who lives in our attendance area, please let them know that we would like them to register their child this week for school. |
 Lost and Found |
| Have you seen the table full of Lost and Found Items? Whenever your child is missing an item of clothing, please remember to say, "HAVE YOU CHECKED THE SCHOOL LOST AND FOUND?" We have accumulated many coats, jackets, sweaters as well as a shirt and some pants. All items still here on April 17, 2009 will be donated to the BISD Clothes Connection. Remember to check the table at PTA, Carnival and Family Fun Night. Who knows, you might find your child's missing shirt! |

Our WCE Honor Choir will be performing at the Birdville ISD District Choir Festival on Tuesday evening, March 31. They will go to contest in May at the Sandy Lake Competition. We are very proud of this wonderful choir.

 Science Fair and Family Science Night |

The week of April 13-17 will be our exciting Science Fair Week. Notes and info went home before Spring Break so you would have that time to be thinking and planning your entry. Plan to be here for Family Science Night from 6:00 -- 8:00 Friday, April 17th followed by the Star Gazing Party. This should be a very fun evening! |

| Please join us for a Star Gazing Party on Friday, April 17, from 7:45 - 10:00 pm. A 15 minute astronomy presentation by the Fort Worth Astronomical Society will begin in the cafeteria at 7:45 PM. Afterwards we will go outside to view planets and the moon with telescopes. There is no cost to participants!! It's free!! |

| District Recognition |
|
Each year two of our fifth graders are recognized for their outstanding citizenship at a banquet in the spring. The two fifth graders who will represent Walker Creek are Charles Kugler and Marriel Williams. Congratulations to these two students. We are very proud of you. We hope you and your parents enjoy your special evening on April 2.

| Spring Fling |
| Some of our students will be participating in the BISD Annual Spring Fling at the WG Thomas Coliseum on Friday, April 3 at 7:00. The routine they will perform looks fun and involves music, line dancing and parachutes. We wish them luck in this fun competition with other elementary schools in our district. |
| Wellness Walk |
|
Saturday, April 4, is the Three Mile Wellness Walk sponsored by the Birdville ISD Council of PTAs. Our Running Club will be participating in this activity. We want as many participants as possible to attend this event. It will be at the Fine Arts Athletics Complex near Birdville High School. Your child can pick up a registration form from Mrs. Wilkey, our PE Teacher. Registration is also available at the FAAC that morning beginning at 7:00 a.m. The race will earn money for the Fine Arts field trips that our third, fourth and fifth grade students take each year to experience the ballet, opera and symphony. |
 Kindergarten Orientation Meeting |
| Kindergarten teachers will be meeting with parents of next year's kindergarteners at 6:30 on Monday, April 6. They will share with them ways to prepare their five year old for kindergarten. They will introduce the kindergarten curriculum and tell them a little about our school. Childcare is available for ages 3 and up by reservation only. Please RSVP by Wednesday, April 1 to Christy_Tipps@birdville.k12.tx.us. |

April 10th is a Staff Development Day for teachers. There will be no school for students. This is the Friday before Easter, therefore the Easter Parties for K, 1 and 2 will be on Thursday, April 9. Third graders will have an Easter activity and snacks on that day. |
