| PTA Tuesday, February 17 |
First graders will be presenting the PTA program on Tuesday, February 17th at 7:00. Nominating committee will be appointed to select nominees for next year's PTA positions. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Teachers will be in Staff Development. Student will have a three-day weekend to rest and relax.

| Reflection Winners |
 WCE Students are Awesome
In the recent Reflections Contest Walker Creek students' entries were superb. Nineteen total entries advanced to BISD Council of PTA level. From those 19 three of them were selected to go to the State Competition. They were:
Mary Rose, second grade, for her video entitled "Interview Mr. Vic"; Jewel Burleson, third grade, for her visual art entitled "Fireworks"; and Macey Brown, 4th grade, for her photo entitled "Me in a Bubble".
Other students whose work advanced are:
Fiona Burleson, Jayden Stroud, Sadie McDonald, Tatum McDonald, Cameron Brantley, Logan Perrin, Jared Burleson, Elizabeth Russo, Landree Lacey, Jacob Barnard, Haley Whitney, Emily Janvier, Caleb Davis.
Congratulations to all these students. We are so proud of each of you.

| Writing Camp |
 February 19
Fourth Graders will be participating in a Writing Camp here on campus at Walker Creek. This will be a fun way to assure all of our students do their best on the Writing portion of the TAKS Test on March 3. | |
| Coyote with Character Breakfast |
February 24
Each six weeks a student from each class is recognized at a special breakfast for having outstanding behavior in regards to following the virtues reinforced through our school. Our next Coyote with Character Breakfast will be Tuesday, February 24. Continental Breakfast will be at 7:15 am and the ceremony is at 7:30. Our Counselor will contact you by letter when your child receives this honor. This is very important to your child. |

| TAKS Reading |
| March 3
Our third and fifth graders will also be taking TAKS Tests in reading on March 3rd. Parents, the best thing you can do at this point is to make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and has a plesant, stress-free morning the day of the test. |
 Book Fair |

Our Spring Book Fair is scheduled for March 9-13. This is a great opportunity for students to add to their home library and for teachers to purchase books for their classroom library. Books make great gifts! Parents are welcome to come and browse. Our late night will be the evening of Open House, March 10. We will open from 6-8 pm.

 Do You Like to Run?
We are organizing our Walker Creek Running Club on Wednesday, March 11 at 3:30. If you like to run or walk this is the club for you! Come find out how to get fit through running or walking and have a lot of fun at the same time. Meet in the gym Wednesday, March 11 at 3:30. Running Club is for Grades 3-5 only. |
| Texas Public Schools Week |
 March 9-13
Please plan to attend our Open House from 6-7 pm on Tuesday, March 10. We are so happy to have parents visit our building and eat lunch with their children. We encourage you to come to Open House or visit anytime that special week. The Library will be open for the Book Fair from 6-8, the evening of Open House, March 10. |
