Nurse's Notes

Currently the state of Texas is in the middle of the cold and flu season.  There is a stomach bug going around as well.  Students are experiencing stomach aches (some with vomiting) and headaches with a low grade temperature (99.5-100.5).  If you feel that your student is ill please keep them home from school.

Cold and Flu Symptoms:

Fever (usually high)
Headache
Tiredness (can be extreme)
Cough
Sore Throat
Runny or Stuffy Nose
Body Aches
Diarrhea and/or Vomiting

Friendly Reminders:

Students who have had a temperature above 100° in the past 24 hours need to stay at home even if they do not have a temperature when they wake up in the morning.  They need to be fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol or Motrin to return to school.  This is to prevent the spread of disease and to protect other students from getting sick.

If your student has vomited in the past 24 hours they need to stay at home even if they do not have fever.

Wash your hands frequently to prevent getting sick.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.  Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
