Walker Creek Elementary Coyote Fun Run

On November 7th, all students will be running/walking as many laps as they can in 45-50 minutes around the track that we will have set up at Walker Creek.  This will be held during the regular school day at their "specials" time.  All students will be participating in the Coyote Fun Run.

From now until then, students can earn prizes by contacting sponsors who can pledge them a dollar amount for every lap they complete during their 45-50 minute time frame.  We encourage students to contact friends and relatives to sponsor them for the Fun Run.  The sponsors can also give a flat donation.

After the students have completed the Coyote Fun Run, the students will collect the money from each person who sponsored them.  Please make checks payable to Walker Creek Elem or WCE.  Once the students have collected all of their donations, they will seal the envelope and will return it to their classroom teacher.  All money must be turned in by Friday November 14 to be eligible for the prizes that they earned.

Thank you for supporting your child's education and physical fitness through the Coyote Fun Run.
Volunteer Appreciation Lunch
 November 7
We want to do something special for our volunteers to show our appreciation.  Our volunteers are a very busy group.  Since so many volunteers will be helping with the Fun Run, we would like to provide lunch for them on November 7th.  Please plan to have a relaxing lunch in the library from 11:30 -- 12:30.

Parent Ed Night
October 20

Don't miss Alicia Jones' presentation at 6:30 pm on Strategies to Help our Families Eat Healthy this Holiday Season.  She will also give you suggestions for healthy food for families on a busy schedule.  For more details or to arrange child care call Laura Cohen at 817-812-3070.
PTA Membership Contest
Last Day October 21
Congratulations!  Under the guidance of our PTA Membership Chairman, Tiffany Bradberry, we have reached our goal of One-for-One--one PTA membership for every student enrolled. We succeeded with 578 students at Walker Creek and 582 memberships. Students have until October 21st to bring in PTA memberships in order to win "Principal for a Day".  The winning student at this point in time has brought 14 memberships.  The student in the lead for "Assistant Principal of the Day" has brought in 12 memberships. It's never too late to join PTA!   New members are always welcome.
Bus Evacuation Drill
October 23
We practice evacuating our building in case of fire.  Likewise, our Transportation Department must have students practice evacuating the bus just in case there were ever the need for that.  On Thursday, October 23, we will practice bus evacuations during your child's PE time.  All students will participate since all students at one time or another will be transported by bus.
Coyote Moon Dance
October 24
The baskets are almost ready, the contests have been planned.  Now all we need are the students to enjoy the Coyote Moon Dance on Friday night, October 24th.  There's a howling contest, a glow-in the dark contest, pumpkin painting contest,  airbrushed tattoos, cookies, drinks and lots more fun!  The adults have a great time bidding on the beautiful baskets.  Tickets are $2 and include a glow-in-the dark necklace if purchased in advance. Students must be accompanied by a parent.  Watch for more info coming home in a hard copy next week.
Picture Day
Thursday, October 30
Mark your calendar and practice your smile.  Picture day is coming!  We will photograph every child and proofs will be sent home for parents to choose what they want to purchase.   Lifetouch has assured us we will have the packages by Christmas.

November 14--21
Our Scholastic Book Fair will begin November 14 and run through November 21.  Our late night will be Tuesday Nov 18 when we have PTA.  Remember that books make great gifts for the upcoming holidays.
