Greetings!
I was thrilled to see so many parents at the various curriculum nights. I was very proud of the way teachers went about conveying the information to you in a fun way. The last two grade levels have theirs this week. I hope you found the time you spent beneficial. It's important that we work together to help our students achieve their dreams. |
| PTA FUNDRAISER |
|
|
ALL 4 KIDS
PTA has begun their fall fundraiser this week. They have chosen a brochure sale with gift items that will arrive by Christmas. Our PTA at Walker Creek supports our school through volunteer hours, providing fun events for us, and by helping us to purchase large items the school couldn't afford on its own. Please take the brochures to work. We do not want the students to go door to door. Family, friends and co-workers will usually support such worthwhile projects. Orders are due September 30. |
| FAMILY FUN NIGHT |
|
| Mystery Night
Everyone is invited to Family Fun Night on Friday, September 19th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. This is one of the fun events planned by our PTA purely for our families. Come on out! You'll have a great time and get to know other families in our community. |
| TEXAS PTA CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION |
|
Dallas Stars & PTA
The Dallas Stars and The PTA are both turning 100 this year. January 17th there will be a contest to see who can have the most attendees at the Dallas Stars Vs. Los Angeles Kings. The game is at 1:00. Be watching for more information in the next few months. |
| BHS CRAFT FAIR |
|
| Homecoming Kick-Off
A great opportunity to support our high school is to visit the Craft Fair on Saturday, September 20 from 9 am -- 5:00 pm. Birdville High School is located at 9100 Mid-Cities Blvd. If you are into crafts this is usually a craft fair to beat all others.

| BHS HOMECOMING PARADE |
|
| Walker Creek Will Have Float
Our mascot, Walker Coyote, has been invited to participate in Birdville High School's Homecoming Parade. Staff members are working on the float and getting Walker all spiffy-ed up for the big event. The parade will be on the evening of September 22. Any WCE students who would like to walk in the parade need to have a parent with them and be at Legacy Church no later than 6:30. The parade will culminate with a pep rally at the FAAC and be followed by a carnival. WCE will have a booth at the carnival. The parade starts at 7:00 and will go up Mid-Cities toward the Fine Arts Athletic Complex. |

| CHILDREN ALONE AT SCHOOL |
|
| Please do not drop your child off at school before 7:45 a.m. As our weather gets cooler and it stays dark longer it is especially dangerous for children to be alone outside the school. We have a Day Care on site that opens at 6:30 a.m. if you need service of this kind. Many Day Cares in the area drop off and pick up at our school also. Our school does not provide personnel to care for your children before school begins. Students eating breakfast are allowed to enter the cafeteria at 7;30. The rest of the children are allowed in the building at 7:45 and have 15 minutes to get to class before they are tardy at 8:00. |
| REPORT CARD CONFERENCES |
|
| October 2 Ends 1st Six Weeks
One of our traditions at Walker Creek is the Report Card Conference at the end of the first six-weeks grading period. We really believe this is a good time to visit with your child's teacher about his/her progress and to discuss any concerns you or the teacher might have about the success of your child. Please watch for information from your child's teacher and schedule your appointment as soon as possible. If you are not able to come to the school, the teacher along with Ms. White will be glad to make a home visit. |
| PICTURE DAY |
|
| Thursday, October 30
The photographers from Lifetouch will be here on October 30th to take Fall Pictures of all of our students. You will NOT have to pay for these pictures in advance. You will receive a package of pictures and will be able to purchase them after you see them. This is a change in procedure from past years. |
| PARENT EDUCATION |
|
| Alicia Jones, a nutritionist, will be our first speaker for the Parent Ed Program this year. She will be speaking on Monday, October 22, at 6:30 pm on Strategies to Help Families Eat Healthy this Holiday Season. We will have child care available, refreshments and door prizes. See you there. |
| COYOTE MOON DANCE |
|
Friday, October 24
Students and parents alike look forward to the Coyote Moon Dance sponsored by our PTA each year. It takes many parents working together to make this a fun and safe activity for our kids. Don't wait for someone to call and ask you to help! Volunteer by e-mailing Brooke Johannes at larryandbrooke@sbcglobal.net. |
| LOST AND FOUND |
|
| MOM, I CAN'T FIND ......
Remember that our Lost and Found in the school office is already overflowing and we haven't even started coat season! When you can't find something your child wore to school, remind them to check the Lost and Found in the Office. Better yet, label your child's sweaters and coats and we'll try to get it back to them before they tear your house up searching for it! |
