Expansion Update

The Library Trustees  continue to work with the Boards of Selectmen and Finance to draw up an agreement between the Town and the Library that defines the role and responsibilities of each if a referendum authorizing town bonding for the Library building expansion project is passed by voters. The agreement will cover such issues as the formation and duties of a building committee and representation of the Town on the Library Board of Trustees.

We are planning for a referendum sometime in 2008. A Selectmen's Library Project Committee will be appointed by the Selectmen that will independently develop objective information about the project that would be available for public presentations prior to a referendum.

If voters approve a bonding referendum late in 2008, after complete construction plans are developed and put out to bid, construction might begin in the second half of 2009 and last for 12-18 months.

Stay tuned to our eNewletter for further developments  or watch our website.
