Doctors learn more about cardiomyopathy | |
Doctors from across the UK and further afield attended the CMA's national medical conference in London last Friday.
The 120 delegates, mostly cardiologists but also some heart failure nurses and genetic counsellors, heard about the latest developments in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy care. The day looked at the use of genetic testing, drug treatments and surgery and new and emerging techniques for managing irregular heart rhythms. |

Cardiomyopathy in the news | Calls to develop the use of mechanical heart pumps in the UK hit the headlines this month. Doctors said that because the number of heart transplants is going down, more of the pumps should be given to patients. At the same time in America doctors were reporting that a six-month-old baby given such a pump while waiting for a heart transplant was getting stronger every day and been able to go home two weeks later. |
