Kent cardiomyopathy information day

InformationWe are holding our next information day on Saturday, February 26th, at the Holiday Inn Rochester-Chatham, Maidstone Road, Chatham, ME5 9SF.

Can you lend a hand?


We are looking for helpers to join the Tunbridge Wells Half MarathonCMA team supporting the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon and to help with data inputting from home for our 2011 ebay auction.

 

We are looking for volunteers to help man the CMA stand at the half marathon on Sunday, February 27th, and cheer on the runners who will set off at 10am. The charity is one of the main beneficaries of the race again this year. For more information about helping there, Robert Hall

Cardiomyopathy in children

ChildOur Cardiomyopathy in Children Information Day is being held on Saturday, March 12th.

 

The event, run in conjunction with the paediatric cardiology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital, is being held at the Mayfair Conference Centre in London.

 

The meeting is designed for parents of children affected by cardiomyopathy. The sessions will include an overview of paediatric cardiomyopathy, a combined sesson on paediatric hypertrophic and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and a separate session on dilated cardiomyopathy.

Cardiomyopathy support groups
HandsOur cardiomyopathy support groups give those affected by the condition the chance to find out more about living with cardiomyopathy and meeting others who are affected. Family members and friends are welcome to attend

Forthcoming support group meetings:
  
The Cornwall Cardiomyopathy Support Group is meeting tomorrow (Saturday, January 29th) at 2pm at the Crossroads Travel Inn and Conference, Scorrier, Redruth, TR16 5BP. 
The North East Scotland Cardiomyopathy Support Group is meeting on Sunday (January 30th) 1pm, in the boardroom, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Foresterhill, AB25 2ZN.
The Yorkshire Cardiomyopathy Support Group is meeting on Tuesday, February 8th, 7.30pm at St Mary's Conference Centre, Brammal Lane, Sheffield, S2 4QZ.
The Darlington Cardiomyopathy Support Group is meeting on Wednesday, February 9th, noon to 2pm in the Meeting Rooms, Hollies Restaurant, Lower Ground Floor, Darlington Memorial Social Club, Hollyhurst Road, Darlington.
The Wilts and Hants Cardiomyopathy Support Group meets on Saturday, February 26th, 2pm, at the Badger Farm Community Centre, Badger Farm Rd, Winchester SO22 4QB

Big hearted one-man show

Richard Tyrone JonesPoet, host and CMA member Richard Tyrone Jones is staging his first one-man show about his cardiomyopathy. 

 

Richard, a director of 'Utter!' spoken word, is performing "Richard Tyrone Jones has a Big Heart" on Tuesday, February 1st, 7.30pm-10.30pm at the Green Note, 106 Camden Parkway, Camden NW1 7AN. Entry is £5. 

 

Richard said: "It will relate my experience through lurid and darkly humorous anecdotes, interspersed with rhythmic, philosophical spoken pieces exploring what it means to be alive, in pain, human and imperfect - plus truly awful jokes."

Thank you for life
People who have benefited from a transplant are helping a campaign to increase organ donation.
 
Letters they have written to donors' families are in a new book entitled Thank You for Life.

Published by the Royal College of Physicians in association with the Department of Health and NHS Blood and Transplant, the book shows the positive side of organ donation and encourages more people to sign up to the organ register.
 
The 56-page read can be bought for £7 including UK postage.
