The new All Children’s Hospital will open this December. A recent sign of progress is, well... a sign! A 4,500-hundred pound sign to be exact. It took approximately 12 people to put the sign in place on the west side of the building. A similar sign will soon be placed on the east sign of the building.

Elizabeth Brennan, M.D.,
Emergency Center/Quick Kid
A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Brennan completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital at Sinai in Baltimore, where she was chief pediatric resident. Before joining All Children’s, Dr. Brennan headed the Pediatric Hospitalist Division at Kernan Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, University of Maryland Medical System. She is board-certified in pediatrics.
Joana Silva Machry, M.D., Neonatology
Dr. Machry received her medical degree from the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil and completed her pediatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she received a Department of Pediatrics Teaching Excellence Award. Dr. Machry remained at Jackson Memorial for her fellowship in neonatology. Her basic science research focused on the role of Angiopoietin-1 in the development of chronic hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension. In addition, she also participated in a clinical research project to promote breastfeeding in the NICU. Dr. Machry is board-certified in pediatrics and board-admissible in neonatology.
William Schaaf, Jr., M.D.,
Pediatric Radiology
Dr. Schaaf is a graduate of the Drexel University College of Medicine (formerly Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann School of Medicine). He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA, where he served as chief resident. In June he completed his pediatric radiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. His research on using magnetic resonance sleep studies to predict the success or failure of genioglossus advancement in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea was selected for presentation at the Society for Pediatric Radiology in April 2009. Dr. Schaaf’s special interests include cardiac imaging. He is board-certified in radiology and board-admissible in pediatric radiology.

All Children’s Specialty Physicians is the not-for-profit group-practice plan at All Children’s Hospital that includes 120 physicians in 16 medical and surgical programs. Roberto Sosa, M.D., is president of All Children’s Specialty Physicians. These practices participate in most major insurance plans and share the mission of All Children’s Hospital in providing care to all children regardless of ability to pay. In providing the full spectrum of pediatric subspecialty care and services, All Children’s Hospital uses a variety of physician subspecialty practices, including All Children’s Specialty Physicians, physician groups in private practice, and physicians employed by the USF College of Medicine.
