Souderton Pool Opens Saturday, June 6

The Souderton Pool opens for the summer on Saturday, June 6. There is still time to purchase your pool membership; download a registration form on the Community Pool page.

With conceptual plans for a renovation in 2010 in the works, this season marks the end of an era. The pool built in the 1950s has served us well, and when the renovated pool opens in 2011, it will be ready to build new summertime memories. If funding is secured and the renovation takes place, we expect the pool to reopen on Memorial Day weekend in 2011. Read more about the plans for the pool and view the conceptual sketch.

High School Redevelopment Project Update

As the final school year at the Souderton High School comes to a close, Borough Council is working to create an overlay zoning district for the school property.

An overlay zoning district is a special zoning district to be placed over existing zones. In the case of the high school property, it will identify the kinds of development allowed by the borough, such as residential and commercial buildings.

The final draft of the overlay zoning district will be presented to the Souderton Planning Commission on June 17 and will be formally considered by Borough Council at the August 3 meeting. Read about next steps for the High School Redevelopment Project.

Curbside Weed Spraying Program Suspended
Curbside Weed Spraying Program Suspended

Due to the environmental concern of some residents, Souderton has suspended its curbside weed spraying program. The borough will no longer spray herbicide along Souderton's sidewalks and curbs to prevent weed growth. The borough is requesting property owners be more vigilant in controlling weed growth along the curb, between the curb and the street, and in the cracks of sidewalks.
