officerSchool District Approves Sale of the High School Property
The Souderton Area School District recently approved an agreement to sell the site of the Souderton Area High School to Philadelphia-based Metro Development Company. The $11 million purchase price will go toward the service of debt on the new high school in Franconia Township and needed improvements to other district schools.

Metro Development Company will present its conceptual plan to the Borough Council at the November 10 Borough Council meeting. The plan, similar to the final conceptual sketch presented by DePallo Design and Planning in June, is modeled toward a village commercial development and features residential, retail, and commercial uses. Metro Development Company is considering saving and reusing the existing pool facility.
Metro Development Co. will not take possession of the property until the new school opens in September 2009.
Ray Yothers Resigning Borough Council
Unable to dedicate the time he would like to Borough Council, Ray Yothers will resign his position effective Nov. 10. Residents of Souderton's Ward 2 interested in joining Borough Council may send letters of interest to the Borough Office. Council will consider candidates during the November work session and expects to make a formal appointment at the Dec. 1 Borough Council meeting.

Leaf Collection Starts Week of Oct. 27
Leaf Collection starts the week of October 27 with spot collections throughout the borough. Residents must rake leaves to the street in piles for collection (no bags are necessary). View the leaf collection schedule to find out when leaves will be collected in your neighborhood.
Please remember that we will be collecting the leaves with our vacuum equipment, which is designed to pick up only leaf waste. We cannot pick up piles of leaves that contain excessive quantities of sticks, stones, hedge clippings, plant materials, and other trash.
