Because Secura Key manufactures many different types of access control readers, with some models similar in appearance, the installer needs to pay close attention when adding more readers or cards to an existing job.
The Radio Key ® low frequency readers (125 KHz) work with Secura Key Proximity cards or keytags and output 26 or 32-bit data (depending on card encoding). The proper card type to order with these readers will always begin with RK. Reader models include RK-WM, RK-WS, and RK-WL.
Radio Key ® dual technology readers (125 KHz) work with either Secura Key or HID® Proximity cards or keytags with non-proprietary data formats up to 37 bits long (depending on card encoding). These readers only work with Secura Key "RK" cards and tags, HID® ProxCard II, ISOProx II, DuoProx II cards and ProxKey II or III keytags. They do not work with HID iCLASS® or Secura Key e*Tag® cards. Reader Models include RKDT-WS and RKDT-WM.

The e*Tag® high frequency readers (13.56 MHz) work with Contactless Smart Cards and output 26 or 32-bit Wiegand data(depending on card encoding). The proper card type to order for these readers will always begin with ET. Reader models include ET4-WXM, ET4-WXS, ET8-RO-W-M, ET8-RO-W-D, and ET9-RO-W-MR.
Since the Radio Key® and e*Tag® readers and cards are not compatible, it is always best to verify the existing readers before placing your order.
