From the slopes of Kilimanjaro...
to the valley of Rhondda...
we thank you for allowing us to bring
love, hope and strength to the world.

In 2009 your support has allowed us to:

  1. Summit Kilimanjaro with 25 cancer survivors, supporters and musicians. Funds will be used to build a children's cancer center in Tanzania in 2010.
  2. Begin the first phase of development of the first mobile cancer unit in Peru.
  3. Host a symbolic walk and concert in Philadelphia with members of Squeeze, Gin Blossoms, Fixx, The Alarm, Gene Loves Jezebel and Nick Harper, sponsored by Hahnemann Hospital, Baird Financial, Field House and Cashman & Associates to support our bone marrow initiatives.
  4. Host a victorious walk and concert for the third year atop Snowdon Mountain led by co-founder Mike Peters to raise funds to build a new cancer wing in Wales.
  5. Host a first-time hike and concert in the Rhondda Valley to support cancer care in Wales.
  6. Host a concert and symbolic climb in Sydney with Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats and Brien McVernon resulting in the support of adolescent care at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick, Australia.
  7. Host a symbolic climb and concert atop Pikes Peak in Colorado with The Bacon Brothers, Cy Curnin and The White Buffalo to raise funds to support our bone marrow initiatives in the United States.
  8. Spread awareness to over 1 million concertgoers by informing them that bone marrow donation is NOT the painful process it once was and registration requires only a simple cheek swab. Are YOU on the list?
  9. Attend The LiveSTRONG Global Cancer Summit in Dublin where we connected with over 40 countries in need of our support, we are preparing to answer the call.
  10. Petition Parliament to change the bone marrow process in the United Kingdom and raise the legal age of a registrant to find more donors.
  11. Register 4,000 people to the national marrow registry resulting in 20 matches (and counting), thanks to Visa and DKMS, at concerts around the U.S. including:
    • 68 concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater
    • Bonnaroo Music Festival
    • Mile High Music Festival
    • Union County Music Festival
    • Outdoor Retailer Convention
    • Austin City Limits, in partnership with LiveSTRONG
    • Presbyterian/St Lukes Hospital in partnership with HealthONE
    • Denver Starz Film Festival with the Gin Blossoms
    • The Smithereens Concert in NJ and MD.
    • And countless other drives and events.

And thanks to our incredible "Band" of supporters that raised additional funds such as:

  1. Union County New Jersey who hosted the 3rd Annual "Rock-on-walk-a-thon" for LHS.
  2. Jason Mraz, Flight of the Conchords, Big Head Todd, OAR, Brett Dennen, Robert Randolph, Disco Biscuits and countless other musicians who lent their voices to the cause.

Worldwide, cancer causes more deaths than AIDS,

tuberculosis, and malaria combined.
Cancer will touch each and every one of us in our lifetime.
