Greetings!
Happy Howl-i-days to all of our pack members! Hoping Christmas, or Kwanzaa, or Hannukah or whatever you and your own pack celebrate, was a happy and cheerful holiday for all! We've been busy back here at the den, and with the addition of the holidays, school and lots of extra deadlines (Thanks Cat Fancy!), we're doing our best to get through the final days of 2007.

First things first. Many of you have asked me who is responsible for the really adorable PetsWeekly banner you see above. I'm proud to tell you that my very good friend and business partner, Jill Carpenter, is the creator behind my logo, and all of my other graphics, as well. So - if you ever need any help with artwork or graphic design, just shoot me an email and I'll get you in touch with her, or visit her fantastic website!

Now, this week has been a little difficult in the animal kingdom. Many good things have happened, but there have been some sad things as well. For example, one of the good things is a bunch of spectators wading through freezing cold water in Tazmania to help save a pod of beached dolphins. One of the bad things is a Siberion lion named Tatiana escaped from her enclosure and attacked several people, killing one. Tatiana was shot to death by police attending the scene. This is a tragedy on every level. You can read more about both events here and in our Kibbles and Bits section below.

It seems that in Ying/Yang tradition, the new year is seeking to find balance in both our lives and those of the animal kingdom. All we can do is strive towards a positive outcome.

We know that you are busy with 2008 fast approaching, but we hope you can spare a few moments to watch a couple of funny videos, read a few holiday stories, and visit some of our wonderful sponsors for last minute savings and end-of-the-year blowouts. Remember to tell them we sent you! We have a fantastic support group that helps keep us afloat, and we want to send a special shoutout to them. Please take a moment to visit them and let them know that you appreciate them keeping us alive!
We love you guys (and gals)! Folks, this is only a small handful of the thousands of people and businesses who have helped to make PetsWeekly Your Source for "All Things Pet."  We also want to give a special thanks to all of our amazingly supportive readers who have stayed with us as we revamped our entire website, persevered through my busy schedule of work, school and running of businesses, and supported us as we struggled to raise funds to revamp our website. I can never thank you enough for hanging in there with us on our journey. Please continue to send us material, and we'll continue posting it (as soon as I figure out how to program this crazy new site!). Any behavior or medical questions you may have are always appreciated. I'll try to get them posted online as soon as I can, but I will always do my best to get back to you within a day or two via email.

Remember that we're still adding new things each day, so even if the home page hasn't changed, take a moment to explore inside our site. I think you'll be pleased as we continue transferring data and photos, and uploading new content.

Be sure to check out the coupon at the end of this newsletter for end-of-the-year savings from those who support our site. We know that you will love their products, because we have reviewed them all! Please make a point of ordering through them so they will continue offering their support to us. We will return next week with new reviews that we hope to have posted but at the very least, we'll have them on our blog. We will also have the Top 10 Upcoming Trends for the pet industry, the Ten Most Popular Dog/Cat Breeds and lots of other Top 10 lists in our upcoming newsletters. We always appreciate your suggestions, so if you have anything you would like us to discuss, change or update in the next year, or if you just want to tell us how much you love our newsletter (my personal favorite), please send an email to petsweekly@gmail.com.

Best Wishes for a Happy, Peaceful and Lucrative 2008! We'll see you next year!

Purrs and gentle headbutts,
Stacy

Top Ten Animal Stories of 2007 PetsWeekly News
2007 was a year of animals!  Take a look at some of the unusual, motivating and occasionally tragic stories of 2007.

1. Pet Food Recalls: So much tragedy in one year. Thanks again to the Chinese Govt (Stacy says sarcastically)...
2. Chinese Scientists Clone Flourescent Cats: Why... We can't understand the point in doing something like this. But then, we are dealing with the Chinese government and we all know the part they played in destroying our pets in the US.
3. Vicks Dog Fighting Trial: Twenty-three months in jail and $1,000,000 fine payable to dog rescues. As far as we're concerned, he got off easy...
4. The CA Wildfires: Sprung from an act of arson, these horrific fires displaced pets as well as humans, but it united rescues nationwide and brought out the best in society. Take that, arsonist...
5. Romney's "Family Vacation": Remember this incident the next time you vote...
6. Leona Helmsley and Her Rich Pup: Helmsley leaves $12M to her dog, two of her grandchildren are quite upset as they received only $10M each - IF they visit their father's gravesite once per year. (Pardon our lack of tears for the poor grandchildren...)
7. Worst Breakup of 2007 Goes to Ellen: Ellen Degeneres breaks down on national TV after the rescue she adopted her pup from moves in and takes it from the people she gave it too. It's the ultimate daytime soap opera and this one deals with pets!
8. Rent-A-Pet: For those too lazy for fulltime pet ownership, you can now "rent a pet". We recommend taking the time out of your lives to bring a pet into your lives forever, but for those who can't take the committment, go ahead and try this...
9. Revenge, Buffalo-Style: This was one of the most clicked on videos for 2007! A herd of buffalo defend one of their young members from a pack of a lions and a crocodile. Remarkably, they all walk away unscathed leaving behind a whole new mystery for wildlife biologists to unravel.
10. Prosthetic Dolphin Flipper: This year, we watched fishermen save a young Bottle-nosed Dolphin from a crab trap, but sadly, his tail flipper could not be salvaged. In Spring, scientists created a new prosthetic flipper that is attached with a special gel which later found uses in the human world with Iraqui war veterans.
