 Greetings!
A happy howl to all of our pack mates!
Welcome to your PetsWeekly email on this first day of October! We've got a lot to cover this week, so hopefully you'll have time to read it all! With special bonuses and coupons from our vendors, as well as two brand new reviews, stories and a return from SuperZoo, we've been super busy!
As many of you know, I just returned from SuperZoo in Las Vegas, NV and while it was a quick trip, and we were unable to visit even 10% of the booths that we wanted to visit, we had a great time! Now, I know that SuperZoo isn't open to the public, but if you ever do get a chance to attend one of these events, please do so - it's like a Disneyland for pet lovers! With hundreds of thousands of items on display, hundreds of vendors and thousands of attendees, we were overwhelmed from the second we walked in the door. We obtained lots of products for upcoming reviews (for ALL species) and lots of valuable information that we'll be presenting in upcoming issues, so stay tuned!
Upon our return, I was the guest of Deb Wolfe on her radio show, The Animal Magnet. I hope you can all listen to the show once it's archived. We were able to discuss the Top 10 Most Interesting Products for Pets and their People. For those who missed the show, I'm listing a few of them for you (who can limit this to only 10 products?) October 16 is Feral Cat Day and I hope that you will take time to think about how you can contribute. Support a Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR) program in your neighborhood - it's a simple way to make a world of difference! With global warming occuring, studies have shown that we no longer have a "Kitten Season" - instead, the environmental conditions has created a situation where cats (and many other animals) are breeding year-round rather than once/year. TNR Is more important than ever right now and is the only method shown to be effective in controlling cat populations. Register now and see how you can make a difference.

More Pet Food and Treat Recalls
 Many consumers feel that the recall is over with, but it's not true. While most stores have been cooperative with the recall efforts, not all of them have been. Many are just not educated and don't know to pull foods, but others have simply continued selling contaminated food. To make things worse, new products are being recalled daily. This forces us to learn about the market and keep our pets safe. Here are some easy resources you can access to stay informed:
- FDA: Searchable list of all pet treats and pet food that have been recalled.
- AVMA: Medical alerts and warnings on new recalls.

Microchipping and Cancer
There have been a lot of rumors flying around that microchips are causing cancer in our pets. These rumors began when the proposition to inject humans with microchips came up recently. Funny how it's not an issue until humans are concerned, huh?
At any rate, there are mixed results on this topic, and it is a story that we will bringing to you in future newsletters. For now, check out these findings for more information.
