A sizzzzzzling hello to you!
I hope you're managing to keep cool if you're in a region that's experiencing the full blast of the sun's torrid personality. My way to beat the heat? Keep my bum firmly planted in my air-conditioned studio with plenty of popsicles for company.
I've some very exciting news to share with this newsletter but first I must spend a few moments waxing melodic over something that is fast on its way to becoming a yearly event for my sister, Laura, and I. Last summer we spent a long weekend immersed in an art experience of epic proportions and finding it so satisfying we decided to do it again. This year we are joined by the inimitable Karen Ouellette, and my son's darling girlfriend, Rachel Buetens. The more the merrier and the bigger an adventure it doth make.

Day One's mission: beeswax. Yes, the hottest day of July, and we decided to turn on the slow cooker and simmer us up a big old batch of bee secretions. Thank you, Mr. Bee, for creating something so extraordinarily wonderful. Guided by an article from Somerset Studio we dragged out stacks of tissue paper, dried flowers, napkins, images and chunks of beeswax and set to work (after a quick trip to Michael's... and dash into Starbucks, of course). Five hours later we had created at least a dozen splendiforous collages between us and one monumental mess. Oh, the joys of art!
The frenetic artistes at work ***
I am the bearer of very happy news and I am thrilled to share it with you. Nancy
Maxwell James has agreed to work with me in the role of head designer for PaperWhimsy! Nancy's
portfolio of work is amazing and to have her creating art for
PaperWhimsy is nothing short of supercalifragilistic. Nancy brings with her a very broad
background in art and both her art and written work have been featured in several publications.
Nancy has
already been hard at work in her studio creating art to inspire us
and have us dashing to our own studios in a flurry of
excitement ... check. it. out!
You can click on the image, above, to pop on over to the Inspiration blog for the details on these two lovely projects shown above: Altered Sea Shell Bottles and Sweet & Shabby Pink Card, as well as a third project, Nancy's beautiful Triptych Fold Out.
You can keep tabs on all of Nancy's projects by following her on the Inspiration blog at PaperWhimsy.com (just click on Inspire at the top of the PaperWhimsy website). But don't stop there - please be sure to visit Nancy's personal blog if you've not done so before, as well as her website, Sugar Lump Studio, and her Etsy store to see more of Nancy's outstanding work, and perhaps even treat yourself to one of her lovely creations. Viva la Nancy!
My second bit of exciting news pertains to fantastic changes to the shoppe. A recent upgrade to our shopping cart will make shopping for collage sheets a whole lot better and far less confusing.
In the olden days we could not sell download collage sheets and printed collage sheets in the same product listing - hence there were two listings for each sheet that came in a download as well as printed. And what can I say other than "ai-yi-yi". If you wanted a printed sheet you had to go to Collage Sheets Printed; if you wanted the download you had to go to Digi Sheets Download and never the twain should meet.
But, that is no more! When the dust settles all collage sheets (apart from the Hybrid images) will be contained in the new category Collage Images. You'll notice that the category Digi Sheets Download is no more. All the pdf downloads from the old Digi Sheets Download category have been relisted in the new Collage Images category. You can now purchase either a printed sheet or a PDF download from the same product just by changing the Option/Media (see inset, above).
This is all great news and I'm really stoked about this change, but now, I'm going to enlist your aid and, hopefully, make it a bit fun for you. I have the massive task of moving over the vast array of Collage Sheets that are still sitting in the Collage Sheets Printed category. What's keeping me from focusing on this arduous task is that all the sheets in that category need to be converted to a PDF download before they can be moved. And yes, I do plan to convert them all but I would like to focus on the sheets that are of particular interest to you.
SO! Here are the rules of this game and it's on a first come/first served basis:
1. Send me an email with the subject
line: MY THREE FAVORITE SHEETS to email address: hello (at) paperwhimsy (dot) com (find it at the bottom of this newsletter).
2. List your three favorite collage sheets still listed in the Collage Sheets Printed category that you really want as a PDF download but are not available as, yet. Limit three (3).
3. The first person to request a particular sheet number will receive a 30% off coupon for that sheet as a PDF download when it becomes available (approx. 3-4 days).
4. If someone else got to me first and has already requested a sheet number that you had in your request email you will receive a 10% off coupon for that sheet as a PDF download when it becomes available (approx. 3-4 days).
5. If you're really fast, you could well receive a 30% off coupon for each of the three sheets you request as a PDF download.
6. Be sure to request only sheets that are still in the Collage Sheets Printed category. There
are several new collage sheets that have already been relisted with the
PDF download option - you might want to check them out before you send
in your list.
7. I will continue to work on converting the sheets that are in the Collage Sheets Printed category so if I get to the sheet before you do... :( Just work fast!
8. This game ends Saturday, July 31, 2010. All discount coupons
expire August 15, 2010. |
Have an outstanding week and may your creative juices, no matter how scorching the weather, continue to flow with joyful abundance!
