A cheery and festive hello!
'Tis the season of joy and the giving of gifts and this newsletter is going to celebrate that. There is something about this time of year that always gets me in the mood to create art. And there is still plenty of time to create something beautiful that will be a keepsake for many years to come for your lucky recipient. Whether it's a card or ornament, a lovely necklace or bracelet, or a wonderful collage, when it's handmade it's always heartfelt.

PaperWhimsy Hybrid Line...

Out with NEW! JPG and in with NEW! Hybrid Images. A much better name for this ever-growing collection of images in jpg and png formats. Print and use for paper works, or open up in your favorite digital program and create, digitally.
There are now over 400 different mages and elements in the PaperWhimsy Hybrid collection and the numbers are increasing, daily. Keep your eyes peeled for more great bits and remember, these are downloads and downloads are immediate gratification. And there's no shipping. How you like them apples?
If you're truly a download-phobe and just don't want to deal with downloading and printing an image I offer a print service for the Hybrid products. You can find this product, "Print JPG", on every page in the Hybrid section of the shoppe or by clicking HERE. Enter the image SKU and your layout choice in the text area and add to your shopping cart. If you want a JPG sheet printed just note the SKU and ignore the layout option.

Gorgeous Inspirations...

Oh, these lovely digital collages are like the decorative icing on a magical faerie cake. I was blown away when I first laid eyes on them as I'm sure you will be, too. These beauties are the creation of mixed media artist, Theresa Martin, using many of the elements from the PaperWhimsy Hybrid Collection. Theresa has agreed to collaborate with me as I build and refine the PaperWhimsy Hybrid Line and over the course of the next several months she will be sharing her lovely art to inspire you.

Photoshop has always felt like
magic to me and using Gale's new Hybrid images are that extra bit of fairy dust
to make magic.
I love being able to virtually
cut images and turn, layer, color and rearrange them to make collages. I've
been using Photoshop in my artwork for quite some time, but not in the same
manner as these new works. Previously I've used Photoshop to produce images that
I could print out and use in pieces in collage work. Sometimes I'd print out a
whole collage for use in fabric work, but this is the first of a new line of
entirely digital collages made for cards, ornaments and prints just as they are.

Working digitally can expand your artistic vision, profoundly. What we see in our mind is not always what we can capture with paper, scissors and glue. When you open up Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, with a very basic knowledge of these programs (and the right elements) you can create amazing collages in no time. If you're not into digital art... yet... perhaps 2010 will bring this wonderful artistic force to your art table.
