PaperWhimsy Musings
Fanciful Frou Frou

A most happy hello to you on a very fine day.

Before we get busy getting inspired I thought I'd take a brief moment to chat about one of my favorite things: "Happenings"!  Yes, indeed, there've been "happenings" near my mum- and dad-in-law's.  Joy, oh, joy!

As you may remember, I last shared news of a happy happening in Matfield: the swan who thought he was a goose and the search for a new home for him which had a very happy ending.  Now, it seems the newest happening has turned to more nefarious deeds, juicy though they may be, in nearby Paddock Wood (which is pronounced "paddawood" if you're a local).  Paddock Wood is known for it's divinely greasy fish and chips and the Paddock Wood train station.

The down and dirty is that a container lorry was stolen and the thieves broke into the local garden centre and loaded it with £12,000 of stolen goods.  I'm sure you all know that the English are very serious about their gardens and apparently this is also true of English crooks.

Once the crooks loaded the lorry they dashed off willy nilly and ended up crashing the lorry into a field where several police officers were conducting K-9 training!  Trying to pretend they were a gardening crew the crooks were quickly found out as all their tools had price tags on them.  The police gave chase but, amazingly, the culprits managed to elude capture though they were sniffed very hard by the police K-9's (alas, the K-9's were sniffer dogs, not attack dogs).  The crooks are still at large but I'm sure they will be fairly easy to find come spring.

Also, it appears that the Matfield bus shelter has been struck, again!  The town council is now discussing the possibility of finding a new location for the shelter as apparently it's current location, in the middle of the road, is not working out very well.

And though not a "happening", per se, but still worth a mention, it looks as though Matfield is approved to open a village shop slash post office!  We were all heart broken over the closing of Cherry Trees Tea Room and post office but I'm holding out hope that the proprietor of this new shop/PO will add a few tables and serve tea and scones.  If the local garden centre can have a tea room then I don't see that it's much of a stretch to add an itty bitty tea room to a village shop slash post office.

As for local news, lots of excitement in PaperWhimsyland.  Please read on...

A lovely day to you!

JPG's New & Noteworthy...

I'm really quite stoked about the new JPG line of products.  This very versatile hybrid product can be printed out and used in paper collage or used in digital manipulation programs such as Photoshop or Elements.  There are now over 100 images and sheets available which offer every artist a wealth of creative opportunities.

You don't need Photoshop or Elements to print these images if digital isn't your thing (yet), just download a free copy of Picasa 3.  You can easily size the images by using the print option in Picasa to print one or several images to a page.  So easy peasy.  And Picasa will also let you do a little mixing and matching of images on a page.

New JPGs

If you're truly a download-phobe and just don't want to deal with downloading and printing an image I now offer a print service for JPGs.  You can find this product, "Print JPG", on every page in the JPG section of the shoppe or by clicking HERE.  Enter the image SKU and your layout choice in the text area and add to your shopping cart.  If you want a JPG sheet printed just note the SKU and ignore the layout option.

So jump on in!

Funky Marie Faerie Slipper Kit

I'm still so in love with the idea of kits; they're like little containers of happy magic!  The Victorian Faeries and Angels kits sold out in a matter of days (I hope to have a few more very soon) so I thought I'd dip my toe in the waters again with a new kit.  A funky faerie toe, that is.

These Funky Marie Faerie Slippers are so darned cute!  I've no doubt that Marie Antoinette would have loved dancing in a pair of them.  You can string them into a beautiful banner or use them as gift enclosures, holiday ornaments or frame and hang as art.  So easy to put together and so fun to decorate.  They are, without a doubt, very ooooo la lahhhhh...

Each kit contains the shoe pattern and enough decorative paper, doodads, glitters, baubles, tinsels and crepe paper to create eight (8) lovely 8" slippers.  I've made several and can't get enough of them.

Faerie Slipper Kit

You can find them by clicking the image, above, or bop on over to Gale's Gewgaws.  You'll be dancing the night away in no time!

Please note, as with all my kits these are limited in supply, so dance over to the shoppe to reserve your kit, before they're gone.

More Fanciful Frou Frou

The other day, I made a happy discovery!  Blue Moon Beads has a brand new line of baubles and bangles: Madame Delphine's.  Very feminine, inspired by ladies' dress shoppes of yesteryear, the Madame Delphine's Collection is all about high fashion. All the fine accoutrements any fashionable ma'amselle could possibly need from blissfully beautiful baubles and bibelots to deliriously delectable doodads and dangles. Sophisticated, whimsical... utterly necessary.

You can find these goodies in the Embellish section of the shoppe under Madame Delphine's.  A handmade necklace or beautiful bookmark would make an outstanding gift.  And of course, these pretty bits would make lovely embellishments for any art project.

Madame Delphine's

And just for fun: any purchase in the Madame Delphine's line until midnight, Wednesday, Nov 18, will include a little gift - three yards of 1/8" ribbon, one yard each of three coordinating colors, perfect for dangling little charms on.  Buy one Madame Delphine's product and get three yards, buy two and get six yards, buy three and get nine yards and so on and so on...

Magnifique!

More of the Madame Delphine's line will be arriving this coming week but please note that quantities of stock currently on hand are limited.

Pssst... you can check out all the other new bits in the shoppe by clicking the magical New Bits button, below.
