Victorian Holidays

I've been busy!  This year is really the first year that I've kind of gotten a kick out of Halloween and now this festive spirit is starting to percolate in the PaperWhimsy studio.  I'm thinking about Christmas!  I'm thinking about Christmas decorating.

Invariably I lag behind most everyone else when it comes to the Holidays (which is not a good idea when you're in retail) but I think I'm kind of running at the front of the pack this year.  I have ideas!

My kind of Christmas is handmade, Victorian, vintage, with a dash of primitive.  So, since I'm feeling kind of festive I thought I'd better jump before I got sidetracked.  I dug through my library and searched for my antique ornaments books.

Voila!

Victorian Ornament Kit

I've always wanted to create some kind of a kit.  Something charming, whimsical, a bit crepe papery and sparkly...  I'm tickled pink, silver, red and gold to announce my first foray into kitdom, kids! These little Victorian faeries and angels are so darned easy to put together and such fun to decorate; they're quite addicting.  I was so engrossed in creating mine that, well... look what I found on my art table...

Gale's haircut

A hunk of my hair?  Apparently being so engrossed in cutting out faerie heads and skirts and wings, I also chopped off a 3" hunk of my hair.  Dang, I need a scissors lesson.

There are enough goodies in each kit to create eight little Christmas faeries and angels.  No hair, though.  You'll have to use your own. These sweet poppets are so precious they are indisputably gift-worthy.

You can find this kit in Gale's Gewgaws or NEW BITS or click on the image of the faeries, above, and you'll be whisked away to the shoppe.

I have more ideas!  Let's see if I can keep this momentum going and get another Holiday kit ready for the next newsletter.

I say, "Let celebrate!"

More NEW! JPGs...

There are more JPG images in the shoppe along with some colorized sheets of those beautiful faces.  Oh my, how lovely they are.  The single uncolored images are just begging for a bit of digital magic, though if you're not particularly interested in digital play they print out quite nicely as is (you can add a bit of color with pencils or pastels).  If you don't have Elements or Photoshop you can download Picasa for free and resize them.  Easy Peasy.

The colorized JPG sheets are perfect for the paper artist - they're gorgeous printed out.  They can also be used by digital artists.

New Blog Challenge
I was pretty stoked to see a nice turnout for my first blog challenge.  We had a winner by random drawing for the $25 prize (congratulations, Rosie).

There is a new blog challenge posted and this challenge, though not a collage sheet, offers an image in jpg format.  So, if you're a digital artist, this one's for you, too.  Pop on over to the blog to grab the details and the image by clicking here or on the image, below.
