Good morning/afternoon/evening!
I've awakened to the pitter patter of little raindrops. Whew. I was worried we were going to go three straight days without rain. Hey ho, April Showers, May Flowers, etc etc.
Last newsletter I was delighted to share with you the exciting "happenings" in my in-laws' village of Matfield, and I'm delighted to say that in today's newsletter I have updates!
First, a correction. It was reported here in the last newsletter that the village duck that thought he was a goose was actually a swan. Upon further examination it was determined that the swan is actually a goose. It has also come to my attention that the duckgooseswangoose showed up at the Matfield pond under mysterious circumstances and while he was delightful to behold during the day, he became quite a nuisance at the night carousing around the village green and pond honking for all he was worth.
The constabulary, on several occasions, tried to serve the goose with a citation for noise pollution and when that didn't work they placed an advertisement (pronounced ad-VER-tiz-ment) in the local paper and on their website seeking a person with a pond and perhaps another swimming winged thing to adopt the Matfield goose, give him some company and get him the heck out of town.

I am delighted to report that this has been a success and our noisy friend has finally been adopted and delivered to his new home. It took several people numerous hours of flapping their "wings" and pretending to be a goose (or duck or swan) to coax him out of the pond and down the road to his new pond and playmate. I believe this case to be, well and truly, CLOSED.In the last newsletter I also reported about the village bus stand walls that went missing. It has not been determined, as far as I know, how these walls came to be missing and who took them but the bus stand has now been set to rights and is ready to safely shelter all the Matfieldites who take the bus.I also happened upon an update in the council meeting minutes regarding the Cherry Trees Tea Room. In my last report I mentioned that the Cherry Trees sign had been tipped over and was now resting on one of the cherry trees. This has not been corrected yet but the good news is... there are several people who are willing to take over the tea room (which is forlornly vacant) and reopen it!
Cherry Trees is a landmark in this tiny village and it is where I had my very first cream tea. I've lamented it's closing for over a year now and it came to roost most poignantly on our last visit to England when our ceremonial "Welcome Cream Tea" was not taking place at Cherry Trees. Sheila, my mum-in-law, hosted a lovely cream tea in her country kitchen with homemade scones, clotted cream and the best cherry preserves I have ever eaten (smack your lips tart and sweet!) and though it was a lovely affair, I still couldn't help missing Cherry Trees just a bit. Though, I must note that I didn't have to wander out into Sheila's garden to go to the loo which one does have to do when cream-teaing at Cherry Trees. (I've always had the feeling that those rustic little bathrooms out in gardens are where the spiders like to pee and a leisurely pee was never to be had by me at Cherry Trees.)
To the loo at Cherry Trees
And here is my mummy- and pa-in-law, the lovely Sheila and the mischievous Peter (aka Just William) snapped at Bodiam Castle in the middle of posing for a picture.
So now that we're all caught up with the Matfield happenings let's press on for a bit of PaperWhimsy news, shall we?
(Forgive my fake accept - I've been enjoying a Lovejoy marathon for the last couple of weeks prepping for our trip to England this June. In my head I sound very posh and properly English. What do you think?)

I'm always on the lookout for something new to add to the shoppe and I happened upon Jenni Bowlin and her homespun pretties the other day. I love the look of her line. It's fresh and sweet and reminds me of those old bottles of milk with the cream at the top and paper lids. Maybe with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on homemade bread as an accompaniment. Weird... I know.
Journaling cards, Bingo cards (perfectly sized for ATC art), stickers and more Scallop labels, die cut banners and birdiesLots of cute new things from Jenni Bowlin to jumpstart your art projects. And to top it all off I'm launching her addition to the PaperWhimsy shoppe with a sale!

R2Art Inspirations... From Rande
|
My art table is overflowing with new projects in the works. I am still in love with the Stef Francis fiber bundles, and have created a funky necklace with paper beads. I explain how easy it is, on my blog. I also explain one way to create a grouping
of art pieces for your home. So when
you have finished reading the newsletter, and shopping all the new goodies in
the shoppe, please stop by and check out these projects.
Warmest,
Rande

Many moons ago I had a friend I traded emails with and we'd write in code - the first letter of each word, like TTFN - ta ta for now - but way way way more in depth. So a message might go something like this: ILTTY. YALOF. It was always a kick for me to decipher the emails because I'm a puzzle lover (puzzles that have to do with letters and not numbers, you Soduko-lovers, you). So, if you're a puzzle lover, too, and want to rattle my brain a bit... SMAE,IC,ASIICDI. :o)
Anyway... ILTTYT and IHYHAWS!
UNT... TTFN! L, G xo
