 Bits n Bobs

A bit of inspiration and some new goodies that are peppering the virtual shelves of the Paperwhimsy shoppe.

Hope you enjoy!

In Love with Love
This is going to be a short and sweet visit, like the Month of Love (better known as February), but with lots more sugar and a whole bunch of pretty.

First, a recap of my bold announcements in the last Bits n Bobs regarding my 2009 resolutions.  My belly dancing DVDs have company.  I added some Pilates DVDs to my exercise library.  Along with the bands.  I love Pilates because you spend most of the time (if you choose the right exercises) laying on the floor.  I much prefer that to bouncing around and possibly spraining an ankle (which I can do just by walking from my studio to the bathroom).  As of this date I have danced twice, laid on the floor once and jumped three times on my little trampoline.  That's just about as much exercise as I did for the whole of 2008.  I'm quite proud.

As for the journaling...  where is that thing, anyway?  I've not been writing much, lately; envelopes, post it notes or otherwise.  I am bound and determined to recommit to journaling which is quite sad considering that I only first committed to it 39 days ago.  It wasn't until I opened up last month's Bits n Bobs that I remembered I was supposed to be writing everyday.  I am making a note, here... hang on, let me grab that Sears envelope...

We've been busy in the PaperWhimsy Art Group creating Valentines.  Theresa Martin hosted this love-ly project, "A Little Romance", which combined the use of papers and fabrics in the creation of Valentine cards to be swapped among the participants.  Some of the gals loved the idea of combining fabrics and papers so much, they created several Valentines and I'm sure there are several people on their "Love List" who will be delighted with their beautiful handmade gifts.

This gorgeous confection is by Carol Stocker.  If you click on the image you'll see the rest
of the wonderful Valentines submitted for this project.

We're now talking about a "Bit o' the Green" swap in honor of St Paddy's Day, because we just don't want to stop creating.

To view more of the art we've been creating in the PaperWhimsy Art Group, please click on any of the links below.  These are projects we completed in 2008.  You will be inspired and, perhaps, even decide to join us for our future events.

As for other interesting and fun news, I'm in "flower heaven".  Not because they're blooming outside but because the shelves of the PaperWhimsy shoppe are blooming wildly with every color of the rainbow.  More on that further down in this newsletter.

Okay then... in keeping with my promise that this was going to be a short and very sweet newsletter let us grab our Valentine bonbons and our cup of steaming Cappuccino or our Rosie Lee and see what's afoot in the Land of Whimsy.

Some new digital and printed collage sheets in the shoppe for your consideration.  You'll find this sheet and others in the Digi Sheet section.  (You'll always find the new additions to my collage sheet lines by scrolling to the last page in each section).

New Digi

And a very quick tutorial from me - the collage below was created using:

  • A Chameleon house from Digisheet 087 which I printed on an old page background
  • And a simple background I painted (well, the word "painted" is used pretty liberally, here.  I actually used spray Walnut Inks, and Glitz Spritz in assorted colors and sprayed them in several layers on a little gessoed board, drying the inks with a heat gun as I sprayed).
Gale's Collage Quickie
Voila!  And this is an actual "cut and paste in real life" collage from me.
Amazingly simple!

Well, it took me a whole lot longer to write this little "quickie" newsletter, than I anticipated.  Hopefully, you'll find something of inspiration here.  :o)
