Baby, it is cold outside here in Indiana. We have jumped, feet first, into winter but I sit here toasty warm in PJs and thick sockies savoring my first (and last) cup of Starbucks (because I ran out of creamer this morning) wondering when it's going to snow. The folks up north got buried in a foot of it which is the only way to go, as far as I'm concerned. If it's gonna snow then, by golly, SNOW. Bury me inside so I can't possibly get dressed and go out in it.
With the snow comes thoughts of the holidays and all the reminders. TV commercials and the tons of magazines selling pears to sausages to puppets to sweaters to flower bulbs to to to... that my mail carrier has been gifting we with every day. So far nothing's stuck.
Well, not exactly true. I have done some Christmas shopping and I would love to tell you what I've found but there are "certain people" reading this newsletter who will find out what they're getting for Christmas if I do. Let me just say that Etsy is a major cool place to shop for high quality handmade works of art and Hammacher Schlemmer has the coolest toys (I have several "big kids" on my list). 'Nuff said. Though, I am going to point out one particular shop in Etsy that I think you're all going to love because you've admired her work newsletter after newsletter.
R-2-itions owned by none other than our talented Rande Hanson. Keep reading for some wonderful projects Rande has put together to inspire you in this newsletter and then bop on over to her blog and then bop on over to her Etsy shop. You'll find many of the beautiful pieces Rande has created over the last several months to inspire you as well as some wonderful pieces she has been keeping under wraps. You're in for a treat.
Rande's Skinny Christmas Tree project is on her blog Also,
in this newsletter, a couple of other treats. Something new from the PaperWhimsy Digital Kitchen. I posted these to my blog which is read by, maybe, four people? So I'll share it here, as well. A little Christmas Art Starter. I was creating some Christmas ornaments for a swap in our PaperWhimsy Art Group and needed something with Christmas words. (My ornament for the PaperWhimsy Art Group swap) Voila! Christmas words! There is also a sepia tone version. Both are available for download from my blog.
I hope they inspire and if they do, please share by responding to my
blog with a link back to yours to showcase your art using the label/s. As another little giftie, I will conduct a random drawing on Sunday, December 7th to announce the winner of the ornament I
created (shown above) all wrapped up with a pretty little bow. Woohoo!(A little giftie from me to you)
And a bit of digi Christmas available now in the shoppe for a limited time before all the Christmas digi sheets are retired at the end of the year. And top o' the morning/afternoon/evening to you wherever you may be. It's so nice to hang out with you, again. I hope you're inspired today and maybe even have completed some of your Christmas shopping before our time is over.
Happy Holidays!

If you happened to transport yourself to the shoppe and wandered into the Digi Sheet section did you note something odd? Like somebody drew a line through all the prices of my regular line of Digital Collage sheets. And then they stuck a different price underneath... Did you see that? Yeah... it was me...
*
It's my Pre-Thanksgiving Giving Thanks Sale! * My entire line of non-seasonal instant downloadable no shipping charge sheets is on sale for 25% off! Christmas is a time of memories. The old ones that warm us up on a cold winter day and the new ones that excite us and make us love the Holiday Season. Old and yet-to-be-made memories are worth preserving in a tangible way that will be treasured for years to comer. Drop on over to the Journals & Albums section of the shoppe for a variety of albums and books that will inspire you to create a small compendium of memories and delight your lucky recipient! |

Lots and lots of pretty papers to use in your keepsake books, have found their way to the shoppe. I love these 6"x6" paper pads from Basic Grey. Nice 65# weight card stock in a lovely array of flavors. I love how they shrunk down the designs from their huge 12"x12" sheets. I think their designs look so much better this way. Drop on over to the Pretty Papers section to see all the styles now available in the shoppe.

My art studio has looked like
Santa's workshop the past few weeks.
Lots of glitter and glue, papers flying all around, and fibers and
ribbons galore! A snip here and snip
there. Sure wish those elves would
hurry up and get here to help! I had
fun making some ornaments, cards, and of course, more Christmas Faeries. I've also made some felted tabletop
Christmas trees and have included a tutorial and template. When you have
finished the newsletter, be sure to stop by my blog. www.paperwhimsy.com/rande_hansonWarmest, Rande
And please be sure to drop by Rande's Etsy Shoppe for more inspiration and a chance to, well... shop. Click on her logo above to be magically transported to Rande-Land!

More Good Words & Inspiration
|
An artist can never have too many books. Well, anyone for that matter can never have too many book. I love the smell of them, the feel of them, the look of them. Other than a gift card at Starbucks there isn't anything as grand, for me, than a gift of books. So I'd like to share with you some more of my favorite titles and since we're thinking about journals and memory keepsakes here are some books in my library that I love, on that specific topic. These are great resources for instruction as well as inspiration,

I must declare that my mission was a success and it only takes one little peek at the Needle Felting goods in the shoppe to see that I tell you true.
Gorgeous wool felts and fabrics for creating your own charming and homey art. Little pillows or tiny books, pincushions... even beads and jewelry. Allowing yourself the excitement of adding textiles to your art is like jumping off a cliff and discovering you have WINGS.
You don't need to be afraid of fabric, anymore. Just think of it as soft paper, and a needle and thread as your glue. Or just use glue - forget the needle and thread. Adding textiles to your creative palette of techniques is going to open up a whole new and exciting world for you. Pretty soon you're going to be printing your PaperWhimsy digi sheets on fabric and creating all kinds of little textile treasures! Fear no more! A few of Rande's favorite things for her next project.

PaperWhimsy Name Game Winners!
|
Finally! The results of last month's Name Game contest. This was for naming sheets 107-134. These are for the single or duo image sheets and not the sheets with multiple images. So, drum roll, please...
Sheet 107 - Wisteria Lavande lovingly named by Linda Kunsman Sheet 108 - Aisling O'Connor lovingly named by Lily Ceccarelli Sheet 114 - Laurel Songbird lovingly named by Kathy Madden Sheet 119 - Dakota Swann lovingly named by me Sheet 120 - Gabriel Littlefaire lovingly named by Christine Shebroe Sheet 124 - India Charlotte Windsor lovingly named by Sandria Holva Sheet 127 - Mittie Eugenia Pettibone lovingly named by Sandria Holva Sheet 129 - India Charlotte without her crown Sheet 131 - Amanda "Birdy" Littlepage lovingly named by Denise Hood Sheet 133 - Nina Noel lovingly named by Louise Wheeler Sheet 134 - Minerva Fairweather lovingly named by Karen Ouellette
Congratulations!!! I will be mailing out your winning sheets asap. If I do not have your address, please email me to confirm your win and let me know where I should ship your sheet.
I still have several sheets that need to be named but as the holidays are now upon us we will resume the Name Game in January with the winners being announced in the newsletter going out at the end of January . Now, that being said, you can still email your names to me now or as they pop into your head. I would love to hear from you. Just be sure to put PaperWhimsy Name Game Sheets 135-157, in the subject line so I don't lose those names.
Also, I am in desperate need of some stories. I started out listing the names and writing little stories but I can only think so many thoughts and I petered out. I have much catch up to do with inserting those winning names into their corresponding sheets and if I have some stories to go along with those names ... well, how outstanding that would be.
Just email your story to me for consideration with Story for Sheet #_____ in the subject line. If your story is selected it will be published in the shoppe in the collage sheet description and you will be credited. If you need some idea as to length please wander over to the collage sheets and look at the stories I wrote for some of the earlier sheets.
Thank you thank you thank you and, again, congratulations to the winners!

Oh this is fun, once you get the hang of it. I still haven't figured out how to email the snowflakes that I've created, to myself. If you figure it out, drop me a line. In any event, what a cute way to spend a bit of time while sipping on your choc mocha vanilla bean latte cappuccino. Click on the image of the snowflakes to take you to their website.

I hope you have a phenomenal week and don't forget to take advantage of that 25% off sale in the Digi Sheets Land.
Many blessings!
