In such an example as this it is easy to see the difference between each individual and appreciate the beautiful rainbow that they create when they all come together. In business as with life itself it is often more difficult to appreciate the bigger picture that we create when a similar scenario exists.
For we all have our own individual personality types, differing talents, passions and angers, networks of people that we engage with and cultures we are a part of. When we come together, sharing a purpose, vision and set of values we can create something of equal beauty.
What we may have been guilty of in the past is exclusion and discrimination against individuals that were seen to be different but in fact were a real benefit for our organization or community. Previously we may have preferred to set up our company with solely blue people because we all shared a similar mind set or with red and purple because all seemed to blend together nicely, a green person might well have been avoided or forced away due to a lack of awareness of what that person had to contribute in addition to what was already there in existence, due to a personality clash or not appreciating that persons particular attributes.
Organizations of this nature however would have been missing a trick because the strength of any community lies within the difference that exists within the individuals.
The key to success therefore lies in awareness and understanding, really knowing the individuals within your team, the personality types that have formed from each person's own upbringing, appreciating all of their skills and assets that they have available to them to contribute to what you wish to achieve and the communities they are all networked with creating ever more opportunities to connect with more suppliers and purchasers once everyone understands the purpose behind your organization and how it is setting out to benefit the whole for the future.
What we have to do is create the right relationship between everyone so that we can bring the best out of all concerned so ensuring the real power of the community.
