Greetings!
'A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step' or so said Lao Tzu,
It is the same if you are attempting to walk 20,000 kilometers, which is what my friend Elijah Maria is setting out to do when making his pilgrimage from the Berlin Wall to the Jerusalem Wall via Europe over the space of 4 and a half years. Wanting to spread the word of peace and so pull down the walls that we still put up between us, either externally or internally. I was lucky enough to meet him when visiting Tamera recently where I was able to compare his external journey to mine and many others internal one, for arguably our greatest journey is still the journey that we make within.
Elijah I think is best described as a modern day Forrest Gump, his pilgrimage provides inspiration for us all, and like in today's video featuring Forrest's journey, Elijah also hopes to accrue companions along his route, his aim being to walk into Jerusalem with 1 million candles, everyone carrying their own light into the darkness that still lingers around the world, between individuals, faiths and societies. For more on Elijah's story and our comparable journeys please read on.
Have a great weekend.
Kind regards

Elijah's Journey
Inspiring us to pull down the walls between us.
You cannot help but be drawn to Elijah Maria when you first meet him. I noted him to be a very interesting person even before I spoke with him, sat as he was at the bar within the community of Tamera, with the shell that hangs around his neck, denoting him to be a pilgrim on his respective way.
It was difficult to connect with him eye to eye even when he was sat down, being such a colossus of a person, towering well above me at 7ft 1", with feet and a stride to match, he creates quite a presence, but so at peace with himself, that he is very approachable too, truly a gentle giant.
When eventually you do speak with him, you are instantly enthralled to hear about how he grew up in Berlin, went to school next to the wall and how he could literally put his hand out of the window and touch it. That was up until the age of 14 when he witnessed it being knocked down too and the liberation this brought with it also.
Living within that containment and then experiencing the freedom first hand has clearly shaped the man that is now setting across the Earth to help raise more walls to the ground, within Jerusalem, if not within our own hearts and souls too.
This is his intention, his passion or purpose, hoping that others will join with him to walk into Jerusalem in Dec 2013 shining their own light amongst 999,999 others, to bring about peace. I may well join him there also such is the inspiration.
For this is all our tasks in life, to shine our own light into the darkness we continue to encounter, within our own Jerusalem. Many of us won't be aware of it when we first start out in life but we are all imprisoned or caged in one way shape or form, within our own personality type, how we have all been conditioned to believe how we should live our lives, within the walls society puts up for us. Where we are all separated from essential aspects of ourselves, needing to break down those walls to fulfill our true potential as human beings.
This is our journey, as it is with every hero or pilgrim, either taken externally or internally, the spiritual pilgrimage is still the same. Once we take the decision to step forward on our rightful journey, we can start to rid ourselves of all the things that have held us back in the past, taking down the walls that have been imprisoning us brick by brick, helping us to see the bigger picture for our lives and the real reason why we need to make the journey we do now, setting a strategy for how we wish to get where we need to go, overcoming our fears along the way, to reach the destination we ultimately seek. Setting our spirits free.

 | | Forrest Gump - Pilgrimage |
Forrest started his pilgrimage, 'for no particular reason' he thought, but we all journey with some purpose, whether it is simply to put the past behind us, gain a new perspective on life or to find ourselves along the way. It is of course also possible to start off with a very clear intention. All journeys of this nature bring inspiration and all start from taking that very first step! Why not start yours today!
