This week's newsletter is all about building a network strategy of collaboration and cross pollination in order to secure your business survival.
As you will see in today's video clip evolution has seen to it that both flowers and pollinators have evolved to service each other, with a particular type of pollinator often servicing a particular type of plant,without one the other will die, spelling disaster for the wider eco-system.
It is the same in business with each business club and interest group acting as the flowers for us as pollinators to go visit, but how do we decide which ones are for us and where we will get the right return on investment (ROI) for our money, time and effort put in to attend? The following article might help.

The secret to a good networking strategy
As we get closer to realizing what the bigger picture is for us as human beings and for our business, we can start to build a strategy of how we are going to get to where we want to go from where we are now.
In order to do this we will need to establish both clients and collaborators by building a network around us of like minded individuals wanting to help us to build our brand.
So it is essential that we know exactly who we are and what we are about, then and only then will we be able to go out and find the right groups to be a part of in order to maximize our ROI and gather as much pollen as possible from the various plants and flowers that we choose to visit.
As with the animal kingdom each pollinator will be most suited to visiting a particular type of flower, and so we as individuals will benefit most from joining or attending a particular type of group, organization, club, event or conference.
It is important obviously, to know your target market, the sector you can best service, type of organization you can best help and ideal client, then you can start to strategize as to where they are most likely to be and who you need to be in contact with so you can be there too, this may take a bit of market research or visiting the wrong flowers in the first instance but eventually the right plant or plants will present themselves, where you are going to be most at home gathering nectar.
Talks, events and conferences where the subject matter is aligned to what your business is about or the service that you hope to offer clients is a great starting point. Like minded organizations offering the same or similar things, may turn out to be great collaborators and agree to mutual referrals or where you can plan bigger events or more complete or complimentary services for people.
Then by visiting the same or similar flowers you can start to get a name for yourself and become a busy little bee like the other winged counterparts you suddenly start to find yourself around. By visiting different flowers of the same genre you can start to cross pollinate and help evolve everything forward. Seeing opportunities if not for yourself for others also, helping the process along.
One example of this is of an opportunity I would like to share with you today, my dream is to be a part of a personal and business development centre by the sea which has a very sustainable ethos and has an eco village / community / educational establishment feel to it and has potential watersports facilities available. I have been attracted to a number of places over recent years that have almost fitted the bill at home and abroad, but as yet the right possibility hasn't presented itself.
I have attended Embercombe, looked at possibilities with Dartington and spent a summer in Greece working as a sailing instructor, none have quite hit the nail on the head. I am now aware of an opportunity in Cornwall that has come to me via networking, that does offer possibilities but is dependent on the purchase of a £360,000 house in order to make it all happen. I don't have the money. However one of you might and want to be a part of the same scheme. We can make it all happen.
