Have you ever thought as to what your life's purpose maybe? At times like this when faced with adversity it can be difficult to think of anything other than survival, but within that circumstance often lies the secret to who we truly are as human beings.
Today's video is dedicated to William Kamkwamba, a very inspirational Malawian farmer, who faced with adversity, found where his purpose lay (like us all) in enhancing his community, ensuring his environment and enlivening spirits. Something I have been all too aware of myself recently in facing my own adversity and truly getting to know my own purpose. Knowing Your Purpose
Gives you the direction for the rest of your life.
As previously stated William Kamkwamba's purpose like everyone else is related in some way to enhancing his community, ensuring his environment and enlivening spirits. It doesn't have to be all three of these things (it is for William) but it will be most likely related to one of them, that's if we are to seek true fulfillment within our life.
That fulfillment will come from establishing just what we are truly talented at doing, what we are most passionate about and what we really want to see changed in our world.
William's talents lie in making things, he's a practical sort of guy, he also has a great passion for learning and science, and the thing he most wanted to see changed in his world was his drought ridden crops being turned into an abundant harvest. These 3 factors together helped him create his windmill to irrigate his crops and also create lighting and electricity to charge up mobile phones for his neighbours and community.
When alignment around these 3 factors occur, great things can happen, all your energies are centred in one place, knowing what you want to achieve you can accomplish tasks far easier than previously deemed possible.
For myself too, recently I realised that one key passion was missing from my work, or if it was there already, I hadn't really realised how much it encapsulated all the activities I have been involved with over the years or how important it was to me and needed to be included. That factor was nature, but most importantly outer nature, as well as the inner nature I had been concentrating on recently.
Realising that one small simple fact has pulled me back into alignment with myself, reconnecting me with sustainability issues, re-enaging me with my local Transition Initiative, PL:21, made sense of the book I have been trying to finish off writing and made me admit to myself which are the companies I truly want to help with all of my talents. Those wishing to become more sustainable or who already are, to try and combat climate change, peak oil and a debt ridden economy all created by a perpetual growth model, that can't continue to exist in a very finite world.
I hope my talents in coaching, design, strategy and organisation, can combine with a passion for identity and nature (both inner and outer) in order to help release the suppression of the human spirit and the rest of nature it has to be said too for that matter, to help bring into existence a more sustainable, authentic life for us all.
