Greetings!
What lies at the very heart of forgiveness? The ability to set oneself free.
In the 5 essentials of Personal, Leadership, Business or even Society Development I talk about the first two essentials as taking responsibility for our lives and then ridding ourselves of the tensions we have put up with in the past.
By accessing our gift of forgiveness we can truly start to leave our past behind us and free up vital energy that can be better placed in taking us forward into our future. The video today shows us just how to do this, the article below explains this a little further in context with my own experience and teaching of forgiveness.
Have a great weekend. Kind regards

The Gift of Forgiveness
Rid yourself of the tensions you have put with in the past.
In order to forgive we must first truly understand, for if we don't truly understand then we don't know who we are forgiving or what we are forgiving them for, let alone having the ability to truly forgive ourselves. We may continue to lock ourselves into the emotional hooks we are unaware of are in existence and continue to play the same roles we have become accustomed to playing over and over again, year on year.
In life our upbringing shapes us dramatically, whether our parents are aware of it or not, however they choose to raise us will leave an impression or influence upon us, even if they have tried their best to do otherwise or seemingly act in our own best interests. This can be compounded or enhanced by the type of society we come into contact with, educational establishment we enter into and the peers we adopt as friends or those that become enemies, in essence how we are nurtured.
The Enneagram is a personality profiling technique (one of many) formulated by the Ancient Greeks, that tells us that there are 9 basic personality types amongst us and all are formed by different styles of parenting. Creating both extroverted and introverted infants, heroes, martyrs, scapegoats, lost children and mascots within our family units. They help explain who we are before we start any personal growth and what can be hard to shift within us as we try to progress through any development, often staying with us well into adulthood going undetected.
There are many other tools too that can be used to map our journey through life to date and explain why we continue to act in the way that we do given certain situations in life we encounter and relationships we have. Transactional Analysis and Shadow Work to name but two, which I use myself in the work that I do with people.
It is important for us to understand how we communicate with others, how we communicate with ourselves, the roles we play, the scripts we have followed and the people who have influenced us the most to find out what it says about us, so we can decide whether these are things that we want to keep, or discard within our lives. So we know how much we need to change our behaviour to ensure a happier existence.
Ultimately however at the end of all the analysis and realisation of who we have come to be, when we have risen our awareness sufficiently, we need to bring both compassion and forgiveness to the situation, freeing both our significant others and ourselves both at the same time.
For if we are unable to do this we will continue to be locked into the same pain body, the same emotional chains and handcuffs that have kept us prisoner all these years. It is only through forgiveness that we can return our energy to its rightful place, taking our own story forward into all we want to achieve for ourselves. The manifest of which becomes infinitely easier when we are truly free of the tensions that have held us back in the past.
In order to action forgiveness we can use any number of wonderful tools, but a good one I recommend is to write a series of letters to the other individuals involved, never showing them the letters. Exclaiming all of your hurt, anger and frustrations in their rawest forms in the first letter to them. Then writing back a letter to yourself in a way that you would want to receive it from them, and then finally writing another letter of forgiveness to them. Be sure to get right down to the heart of any untapped emotion and don't stop until all 3 letters have been written. Then go to a place of inspiration out in nature create a ceremony and safely burn the letters casting your forgiveness to the wind.
