Who Am I?
Have you ever thought 'Why am I, like I am?' and not known the answer. If so filling out a personality profile could be the thing for you to do. It is a good starting point for both individuals wanting to find out more about themselves and teams and partnerships wanting to discover why they interact in the way that they do.
The Enneagram is one such profiling tool. It is a method that dates back to the Ancient Greeks and works on the principle that fundamentally there are only 9 different types of personality that can exist between us all. We will all carry varying degrees of influence from all these types, but 1,2 or more will make up our dominant personality type and will determine why we act in the way that we do when we are at our most healthy or in our more average to unhealthy (stressed) states.
The result of the test is determined by how you answer a number of either or type questions (there are many tests paid or unpaid available on the internet). Your answers are instinctively based on who you are fundamentally as a person (your nature) and how you have been influenced in your journey to date (your nurture). This gives you your most likely personality type.
It explains to us our starting point in life, and/or where we are now, our position within the circle of life that we need to evolve from to become a more complete or whole person, by gradually accumulating more and more positive qualities of the other personality types we are initially lacking. There in lies the deeper work of understanding The Enneagram and using other personal development techniques to rid ourselves of the tensions we previously have put up with in our lives so we can start to see the bigger picture for our own existence and start to fulfill our true potential.
The Enneagram makes for fascinating reading, especially when being compared to other people that we know, our partner and colleagues within business.
For an initial insight into The Enneagram and if you have a spare 40 minutes why not log on to The Enneagram Institute and fill out the RHETI independently validated full test for the price of a mere $10 (the test I currently most recommend) and start to understand yourself a bit better.
And if you wish to discuss your results further please feel free to contact me and perhaps we can arrange a coaching session to understand how it relates to your own life more fully.

Greetings!
Welcome to the latest edition of the Set Your Spirit Free Newsletter.
This August it's time to concentrate on you, for many of us this month is one of the very few that actually allows us a bit of time away from our workplace and if we can find a space in amongst the kids we can perhaps start to understand ourselves a little better, think where we are with life, what makes us truly who we are and what aspirations we want to achieve in the future. Or at least become aware of all the frustrations holding us back from doing so. So when September comes we are ready to hit the ground running again.
We have the time to ask ourselves 'Who am I?', 'What brand am I?', 'Where am I taking it?' and 'How will I promote it?' and 'How does this fit within the ever changing world that is coming into being?', and with 20% off all life coaching booked in August what better time to employ Set Your Spirit Free to help you sort this all out. See the coupon at the foot of this email for more details.
We are now fully immersed in the age of social media, it is now possible to tweet, post, blog, email, photograph or video our brand all over the world at the click of a mouse, or the touch of a screen. How we look, how we talk and how we communicate our own authenticity through that has perhaps never been as important.
For the last few weeks I have been putting a lot of thought to this too and gradually streamlining and dovetailing all I am putting out into the world through the social media sites. So whether you want snap shots of information from me, more in depth articles, or a more general view of what I'm about you can access it all now through my various Twitter, Facebook, Blog, Linked In and Web pages.
Read the following articles and see how you can best do this too, or click on the 'quick links' to see precisely how I'm doing it and to follow even more of what I have to offer.
Happy reading
Simon

What Brand Am I?
|
|
As our world evolves forward into a more open, transparent, communicative, authentic place to live. Who we are and how we promote ourselves as individuals as much as companies is becoming ever more prevalent and important. Even more so when you alone make up your own company.
People are becoming more and more interested in us as people because they can find out that much more about us just by scanning the internet, especially when we advertise that fact too. It is not only our websites where people can connect with us now, but via twitter, facebook, you tube, flickr, tumblr, blogger, you name it. Whether you are tweeting your latest activity, writing your latest article on your blog, or uploading a photograph or video of yourself, someone is likely to be looking at you to see what you are up to, watching 'what's happening' with you in order to decipher the congruency between who you are and the messages you are putting out.
Truly knowing who we are, understanding our unique authenticity and what brand we are as individuals is going to help us with what we publish about ourselves. Of course if we can do this all in one place and promote the same ethos then great. Websites themselves can be a great way of doing this but can be costly, especially when we can't administer them personally. Linked In is another way but can be somewhat like reading a resume or CV, rather than expressing our true selves.
www.flavors.me however, is a website where you can personalise your own brand for free using up to 4 links to social media, and for the sake of an extra $20 you can correlate everything that you are putting onto the internet from one web page. Making 'Brand Me' that much easier to administer. It offers a bit more creativity and is a good way of bringing all our social media strands together and getting them streamlined. There is nothing worse for our audience then getting duplicate messages on their particular chosen social media site because we haven't correlated our message correctly.
It is however possible with a little thought to get everything going in the right direction. From Blog to Twitter to Facebook if you arrange it right. Helping others connect with you and vise versa, with all the information you want to give people. Sites like flavors.me can help.

Where Do I Fit In?
|
|
If you are wondering where your place in the world may be in amongst all the turmoil of environmental and financial crisis, it might hearten you to realise that everybody's purpose at this point in our evolution probably boils down to that of 3 basic concepts.
1) to live more in accordance with our wider environment, 2) to improve the way we operate in community or 3) how we inspire more spirit into our society, anyone of these or a combination of all three is likely to be what we are here to do. If we are not aligned to any one of these ideals we are likely to find increasing tension within our lives.
When we add together what we are most innately talented at doing, discovering what drives our greatest passion and finding out what it is that we most want to see changed within our world or the world at large we realise we actually aren't too dissimilar to many other kindred spirits thinking along the same lines as us.
Businesses and governments are beginning to move towards a similar conclusion by promoting the bigger society and introducing initiatives to encourage employees to volunteer for community and environmental projects, realising that a happier, healthier workforce means a happier, healthier business.
However the really smart individuals and businesses amongst us are embracing such concepts into the every day work that they do and are starting to create services and products that truly align to these purposes. Realising that the tension that they feel within themselves probably relates to this disconnection with what is truly needed to improve our community and our planet.
By experiencing just one purposeful coaching session with Set Your Spirit Free you can start to embrace your own purpose in a similar fashion, whether that is as an individual or a business.
