Your Heart Song
As we begin to find ourselves and know what our soul
image is we can perhaps start to think of what our personal
identity could be, the face of our authentic selves that we
wish to introduce to the world.
One of my strengths of being a life coach heralding from a
background of branding is that I can, when the
opportunity presents itself, design a personal identity for a
client, in alignment with the person they now realise they
are. This past month has seen the culmination of the
first project of this type and the work I have been doing with
Marion Turner since May.
Marion is a similar individual to myself, both of us have been
working away in the Transition Movement for the benefit of
our immedate communities and met some 12 months ago
through that organisation. Both of us are aware of
the transition needed both internally as well as externally if
we are all to live in more harmony with the planet in future
years and live more sustaining lives on all levels.
Through a period of coaching, where together we started to
peal away the layers that were holding Marion back from
being all she could be and then focussing on all she wanted
to become, we started to become aware of the deep
passion that lay within her that she wanted to express to
the world and encourage others to do likewise.
Adopting a personal logo of Heart Song, Marion asks
'Can you hear yours?'. This is not so much a business idea
as a statement of intent or purpose of which she can hang
other ideas upon and her personal card now acts as a
vehicle to introduce herself to others and the world.
The logo is made up of a heart emerging out of a tree. The
heart represents the true passion that lies within us all, that
we are constantly called to live by, the tree represents our
relationship with nature, stretching out to make a bridge
between heaven and Earth, a way of being that Marion
endeavours to live by herself.
If wishing to ask Marion what she is setting out to achieve
with Heart Song feel free to email her at

Greetings!
As I pass on my compliments of the season to you this
Christmas I have only one gift I would like you to receive, a
gift that ultimately only you can grant yourself, the gift of
truly knowing how to Set Your Spirit Free.
I believe that at the very core of us we all have a unique
soul image, a pictured dream, calling us. A vision that won't
leave us alone until matched externally, making us glow for
ever more internally. Our life's work may well be geared
towards finding this place. Where we feel most at home,
most inspired and where our true vocation can start to truly
take shape.
This, I believe is our heart calling, it may indeed be our true
heart song and in order to find out just where it resides all
we may have to do is simply listen to our heart.
What then if this place resides somewhere slightly
contradictory to where our heads say we should be
devoting our time, due to the financial crisis,
credit crunch, climate change etc. perhaps urging us to
become more frugal, resilient and sustainable?
Do we feel our options are narrowing or does this
encourage us to be ever more creative in fulfilling what we
truly wish for, making our dreams become reality? Can we
still have what we want and remain in harmony with the
planet? Being conscious of our actions but still acting true to
ourselves? Do these circumstances trigger the necessary
flight, fight or freeze mentality within ourselves that are
absolutely necessary for the change we ultimately need to
fulfil our own purpose?
From listening to others experiences I have learnt that
when the time comes and your soul image presents itself
you may have no other option but to risk all, whatever the
circumstances you are under to follow what you know to be
right for you. Or if only glimpsing part of it, realising that this
is where your next step most probably lies.
Howard Thurman would say 'Don't ask what the
world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive and
then go do that, because what the world needs is more
people who have come alive!'
This Christmas I would urge you all to have a good look
around your life and say to yourself, is this what I truly
want? If it is, then fantastic, start to see how you might
make it sustainable for you, your nearest and dearest and
your community. If it isn't, do your best in 2009 to start to
search for your soul image and true place in the world and
then follow that and make it work for you. That's
what I will be aiming to do also.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Simon

Setting My Spirit Free

Part of me being able to life coach people to their ultimate
dream is to be seen to be making my own journey. As when
the next step presents itself to me, I come up against the
same demons as anyone else does, that have to be
defeated if I am to continue along my own path.
I have a dream that one day I will be part of a sustainable,
self development centre somewhere on the coast where it
is possible to do sailing activities as part of a self
development programme, perhaps connected to vision
quests and the Hero's Journey. In the mode of Skyros,
Embercombe, Findhorn and Esalen.
Obviously for that to become a reality I will have to
gain sufficient experience and qualifications in sailing, in
addition to my personal development skills, in order to help
facilitate this fully.
After Christmas an opportunity awaits me to take the next
step of my journey. To travel to Egypt in order to become a
sailing instructor. Allaying many of my own personal fears
and guilt complexes along the way, continuing to test my
own capabilities.
Throughout all of my recent exploits within the
environmental field, in trying to become more sustainable,
part of me has been aware that I haven't as yet
experienced as much of the world as I would have liked,
indeed many inner demons have stopped me from doing
this in the past. Present circumstances have thus provided
me with quite a conundrum. My answer in the short term is
to try to travel responsibly, flying with purpose and only
when I have to, hopefully for the greater good. In the long
term, to find a more sustainable way of doing this. Perhaps
sailing to destinations, amongst other more sustainable
modes of transport.
In any dream you have to have tasks. 'A task without a
vision is just a job, a vision without a task is just a dream, it
is only a task with a vision that can truly change the world!'
Anon.
Due to this impending opportunity. Future emails may well
be more sporadic and indeed may well have to stop for a
while altogether as I find the next place I am able to coach
from where my soul image really lies.
I hope to reappear soon continuing to help you with your
own personal development, however I wish you all well in
your continued journeys in the mean time. Have a super
Christmas and a fantastic 2009. Simon.
