Searching for the Hero
Arguably the England rugby team has been looking for
new heroes ever since Martin Johnson led his side
ceremoniously off the pitch 4 years ago after their triumph
in the last World Cup.
Certainly when Johnny Wilkinson started on his run of
injuries soon after and a few stalwarts announced their
retirement from the game, the side began to look a shadow
of it's former self.
4 seasons have followed that have barely left a ripple in the
Six Nations let alone with any of the so called
world leaders in the Southern hemisphere, as England have
lumbered from one defeat to another and from one
disappointing perfomance to the next.
In this World Cup too an unispiring display against the USA
led to a whitewash defeat from the South Africans 36 - 0. All
hope of retaining the title seemingly gone.
So what did England have to do in order to turn it
around? As the song goes they simply had to 'Search for
the hero inside themselves'.
They had to remind themselves of what they as individuals
were uniquely talented at and what passion was to be
gained from pulling on their white jerseys, singing their
national anthem and playing for their country as World Cup
winners. This helped in restoring pride with victories against
Samoa and Tonga.
But what does a championship winning side truly need?
What does a hero truly require? Purpose! Purpose is found
by combining those two earlier factors of talent and
passion with the special ingredient of what they
would most like to see changed in the world.
In the pre match build up to the Australia game there was a
distinct lack of respect given them from their down under
counterparts. Enough to make any English man's blood boil,
let alone World Cup winning rugby players. So the common
purpose within the team was set. To restore the respect
one should be entitled to of reigning champions and in so
doing removing any smirks from Australian faces in the
process.
To a man England played with this purpose, injuries healed,
discipline was restored, victory was realised and history
was repeated. Truly inspiring!

Greetings!
It's not just Clarke Kent who has super powers, on our
'Daily Planet' we all have the ability to be super heroes!
It doesn't matter if we are fictitious characters in TV series,
rugby players in the World Cup or every day citizens in
society, we all have the ability to be super heroes.
All we simply have to do is connect with our deepest
selves, find out what it is that is truly special about who we
are and what our unique talents and passions are likely to
be. Then we can start to see how they can be applied to
what we would most like to see changed in the world. By
concentrating on these 3 factors we can start to overcome
self limiting beliefs that have held us back from achieving
what we have wanted to in the past.
Once we all start to understand this, great things can start
to happen. People can start coming together, sure of their
own strengths in order to unite with others to form common
purposes within business, society and the global population.
One of the things I have found most inspiring from Heroes
the new TV series on BBC2, which features many human
beings discovering their own supernatural strengths in
order to save the world. Is that actually, it isn't far removed
from what I have been experiencing through my own
coaching in every day life with the clients I have come into
contact with.
We as human beings are constantly evolving. Many of us
are unaware of the unique powers that we possess,
especially when society has taught us not to recognise
them or value them.
Our innate talents, passions and angers steer us towards
finding our own super power, our own true purpose. Once
we can focus on what that is and are encouraged by others
to pursue it, then there is no knowing what we can achieve
as we attempt to create far happier, rewarding and
sustainable lives for us all.
Kind regards. Simon.

Embracing the Shadow
|
|
Wherever there is a hero there is normally a villain.
A Penguin, The Joker, Darth Vader, even a horny little devil.
Something lying in the shadows, wanting to tempt us or
play havoc with our minds.
Within all of us there is a dark side, what some
would call our shadow self. The secret to us all as human
beings is to be able to understand this darker side and
realise the gifts and lessons that it holds within us.
Things to be treasured and not feared, as they hold the
keys to unlock our true selves.
Unknown to us, our shadow side reflects itself out into the
world and attracts wishes and desires as well as pain and
learning back to us. It will continue to do this until we learn
the lessons it is sending us.
Have you ever wondered why you continue to attract angry
or critical people towards you? Well there is a high
chance that you are either being angry or critical to
yourself or others or both and have to learn to balance this
within yourself before you can hope to see any change
within others. Perhaps you have encountered one situation
time and again in your life under different guises that
continues to bring you pain and frustration. There is
something here we have to learn from before we can move
on in life.
Our shadow side works in both a positive and
negative way. From a positive sense it will be attracted
towards people and places that inspire us towards our own
destiny. If we ignore it, it will keep coming back to remind
us.
Negatively it will present us with harsher lessons that we in
some way have to learn from in order create greater
understanding of ourselves and others, to accept ourselves
for all that we are, so bringing more love to ourself and into
our relationships. This is the true 'Law of Attraction'.
In a pre match interview on Saturday Johnny Wilkinson
himself recounted his long journey back from one injury
after another each time coming back harder than the
previous one in order to become a better rugby player, only
to find more injury. In a rather profound statement he said
that what he actually had to learn was to just appreciate the
moment for what it was, the joy of playing rugby and being
himself. Restoring karma to his being.

Fighting Fear
|
|
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our
deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is
our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You
are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the
world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that
other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all
meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make
manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in
some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light
shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do
the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our
presence automatically liberates others.
Marianne Williamson - A Course of Miracles
It is our fear of giftedness that complicates life. All problems
have at their root the fear of taking the next step in life and
the fear of acknowledging our gifts and talents. These so
called problems are resolved with ease and simplicity by
simply acknowledging our life enhancing gifts and
unwrapping our presence.
