Official Take Off!
Last month saw the official launch of my new life coaching
business Set Your Spirit Free.
Initial signs have been good. Soon after the launch I
decided to utilise some space available at Nature's Larder,
my local health food shop and now have an alternative
venue in Ivybridge to my own home/office. This initiative
has already paid dividends as a steady stream of clients
have begun to beat a path to my door, taking me up on my
coaching services. People are beginning to gain untold
benefits from coaching with me. My unique selling point of
coaching in nature as well as coaching more conventionally
has been a big draw for clients.
Set Your Spirit Free has already helped people gain
greater authenticity, confidence and understanding in their
careers, relationships and life in general and long may it
continue. Watch this space for future courses, talks and
free coaching sessions to see how you can start to benefit
from this service.

Greetings!
Gandhi once said 'We must be the change we want to see
in the world.' So if we wish to see a greener, fairer, more
sustainable world, we must first, be that ourselves.
Over the past 18 months I have been working hard on
my companies Idealic and Set Your Spirit Free in order to
utilise my skills as much as I can for the sake of others and
the environment. In order to live my life more true to my
nature, improve well-being and combat climate change.
I've greened my product, got involved in CSR and
community work, and engaged in projects
to raise environmental awareness. I am now helping to
develop and promote other people and their businesses
that are wanting to be greener and more authentic
themselves.
My life coaching work with Set Your Spirit Free endeavours
to help encourage people to fulfil their true potential by
finding their life's purpose, as I believe society will soon
need us all to be all that we can be, if we are to be truly
sustainable.
With Idealic I'm helping to create greener and more
authentic brands, promoting both individuals and companies
alike that are offering new more sustainable products and
services to the process.
If you too would like to be greener, live and work more
authentically, bring more environmentally friendly products
to the market or are still wondering why all the urgency,
please read on.

From Growth to Well-being
|
|
According to a recent survey by Norwich Union Direct, 2
out of 3 people are unhappy in their work. Once more
according to the New Economics Foundation we don't get
any happier the more money we earn.
A modern culture solely geared towards growth leaves little
time to care for the majority of individuals within
organisations. A great many companies seem to be
dependent on achieving profit alone, just benefitting one
person at the top, or their shareholders, with no greater
vision or purpose behind the business. No wonder then
why 66% of people don't feel particularly engaged with what
they are doing and there are such high levels of stress,
absenteeism and staff turnover at work.
Evolving your business to become more authentic, can lead
to greater productivity and happiness. Energy and
efficiency levels can be raised by as much as 80% and HR
and marketing costs reduced by as much as 91% and 80%
respectively.
How would you like to run, or be a part of a business where
everyone shares in the responsibility of leading the
company forward? Where true teamwork is in evidence?
Where you have happy employees all carrying out their
own life's purpose whilst helping to form a common purpose
within the business? Where people naturally work together
more collaboratively, fairly and sustainably, with more
passion, for the benefit of all and not solely for profit?
Authentic businesses enable more individuals to take
responsibility to lead the company forward depending on
each person's particular purpose or specialism, because
what the company stands for and does, mirrors what any
individual believes in and wants to achieve.
We can help you turn your business around and get
everyone sailing in the same direction by coaching all
your individuals within your team to find their life's purpose
and in turn your company's.

Idealic Goes to Parliament
|
|
It was just over a year ago that I had the pleasure of
meeting Rob Hopkins for the first time. Rob is the founder of
Transition Towns, an organisation geared towards helping
communities exist beyond the age of oil.
Little did I know then, the inspiration such a project would
generate, the success it would have, nor yet how far my
design work would travel when I offered my creative skills
to the process in order to help get the project off the
ground.
As well as designing the initial Transition Town Totnes
identity, numerous posters and flyers have followed
advertising various awareness raising events, all with
branding that has become synonymous with the project.
Other towns too have been quick to avail themselves of the
skills associated with Idealic and more identity and publicity
work has been designed for the likes of Transition Penwith
in Cornwall.
However the creation of a 'Totnes Pound' to be used as
local currency by the original Transition Town project has
gained the most notoriety both throughout Totnes
and more nationally. As well as being picked up by
such media as The Guardian, Radio 2 and BBC South
West, Anthony Steen MP for Totnes has taken the pound all
the way to the Houses of Parliament.

Why Every Action Counts
|
|
18 months ago hardly anything within mainstream culture
was being made of climate change, yet now practically
everyone knows about carbon footprints, co2 emissions,
melting polar ice caps, rising water levels, and the affect we
humans are having on the planet. The Live Earth concert
this weekend highlights the point still further.
What then of Climate Change's lesser known relatives Peak
Oil and Gas, or their pseudonym 'Energy Security'?
They are being made little of in the media and yet pose
more imminent threats to many businesses, lifestyles and
our community than their more well known counterpart.
However harmful they are to our planet we are still currently
dependent on oil and gas to provide us with the
amount of food we eat, most of our energy, our transport,
warmth, health and livelihood. Our vulnerability connected
to the supply of oil is immense.
Peak Oil means reaching the peak in world oil production
and when this happens demand outstrips supply, prices
rocket and supply begins to decline rapidly. A little
disconcerting when you realise that the whole of our
modern world is built on abundant, cheap oil supplies and
scientists predict we've already reached the peak.
The end of cheap oil brings forced changes across the
board to our society. Fortunately a lot of the solutions to the
problem echo what we are already doing to combat climate
change, consuming less, thinking more local and
becoming more sustainable.
However I believe it will only be by bringing all our innate
talents, passions and purposes to the process that we are
likely to provide enough of the solutions we need as we try
and keep as much of the life we have become accustomed
to with far less energy use.
The good news is, that a society post peak oil production
could be altogether more enjoyable to live in than the one
we have at the moment, if planned for properly and given
enough time to be implemented! Which should inspire us all
to change ever more quickly.
That's why I have taken it on board to inform as
many people as I can about the situation we face, hence
this newsletter and bring all my talents to the fore in a bid to
help others do the same.
My work with various environmental groups and
organisations is providing plenty of opportunities that I
hope will soon start to benefit you all through further
services I intend to offer. Please contact me personally for
more details on an ever greener service and how you
yourself can start to make Every Action Count.
