3. Only use ceiling fans if you're in the room. They don't cool the air. They just make you feel cool.
4. Insulate! It's not just for winter.
5. Install a whole house fan, which ventilates the house at night when it's cooler outside.
6. Keep your AC unit in the shade and make sure there's at least 18" around the unit.
7. Keep the coils clean on your AC unit. Have it serviced and get the charge checked every year.

Join AL Gore, Gwyneth Paltrow & Simon Cowell: Meatless Monday Have you joined the Monday Movement? What, who? Meatless Monday is gaining support all over the country and Mario Batali is joining ranks with Al Gore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Simon Cowell to lend support to the cause. Mario Batalli's 14 restaurants across the country will promote meat free Mondays by offering at least two veggie entrees, pizza and pastas and will use a Meatless Monday Logo. And because livestock production creates more greenhouse gases than transportation, choosing beans or beets over meat one day a week helps to lighten your carbon footprint, too. Healthier people, healthier planet. We like MEATLESS MONDAYS.

Whirlpool Green KitchenHere's further proof that green design doesn't have to compromise on style as showcased by Whirlpools ultra sleek eco kitchen prototype, which was unveiled at Milan's Design Week. The intelligent kitchen is inspired by a natural ecosystem and is designed to be 70% more energy efficient than a standard kitchen and 25% cheaper. How? The system takes heat from the refrigerators pump to warm the dishwasher, it calculates how much water is needed for each cooking task and then filters all the cooking and sink water and stores it later for use in the dishwasher...now that's smart. If only it could clean itself too! We like WHIRLPOOL GREEN KITCHEN. |
