Greetings!
Celebrate with us throughout the year! Valley Leadership has successfully fostered leadership in the Valley for 30 years. Through Leadership Institute, Valley Teen Leadership and other programming, thousands of individuals from diverse sectors and backgrounds have joined together with the common goal to bring about positive, current and lasting change. As we celebrate this important anniversary, we want to engage as many people as possible by involving our alumni as well as the greater community. You can help us do this!
Celebrating the past 30 years is more than marking a milestone in time. We reflect on everything the founders wanted for this organization, namely an independent organization with the mission of developing a diverse group of leaders to serve as catalysts for a stronger region. The desire was to ensure that our graduates not only lead but actively engage others as community stewards and expand their commitment to voluntary civic participation.
Our goal is to bring people together through a variety of events. In the coming year, we hope to provide timely topical discussions, special social events, exciting tour opportunities, and more. We also want to hear how you would like to help the organization celebrate this anniversary year. You, after all, have been instrumental in helping Valley Leadership thrive. | |

| Quote of the Month |
|
"As we, the leaders, deal with tomorrow, our task is not to try to make perfect plans. Our task is to create organizations that are sufficiently flexible and versatile that they can take our imperfect plans and make them work in execution. That is the essential character of the learning organization."
-- Gordon R. Sullivan & Michael V. Harper (co-authors of Hope is Not a Method)

| The "Big Idea" |
|
We'd like to ask that our alumni consider hosting small gatherings that include asking guests to make small donations to our 501(c)(3) organization. Might we suggest that if you are already planning an event for friends, family or work colleagues, that this donation piece simply gets added to the mix as opposed to coming up with an event for this fundraising purpose. We are sharing the following list to inspire you to help in this effort and consider keeping Valley Leadership on your own list of philanthropic investments. Potential ideas for small events include: 1) Corporate celebration of any kind 2) VL class or family reunion 3) Spa Day gathering
4) Holiday reception or party 5) Potluck or evening meal event at your house 6) Jewelry/Tupperware/make-up/clothing party Thank you for your consideration in helping us with our 30th Anniversary Celebratory and Fundraising goals! If you plan to help us out with a mini-event of some kind or you would like more information on this concept, please call Nancy Grace at 480.678.0053.

Why work (and play) to donate to Valley Leadership... * To improve the quality of life in Arizona. By investing in Valley Leadership you invest in the region's "community." Both current and future leaders benefit significantly from learning about state and local challenges along with concrete steps they can take to create thoughtful solutions. We also inspire people to utilize creative approaches to improve upon the status quo. * Supporting a powerful track record. Valley Leadership has a remarkable track record of running successful leadership programs that help educate, train and inspire people to better serve the community for 30 years. People like to donate to successful organizations and programs, and Valley Leadership exemplifies hard work, success and putting community first. * Donating to a life-changing program for teens. Knowing you can help fund a program for teens (at no cost to them) that informs, motivates, increases issue awareness, and prepares them for future leadership is extremely rewarding. For some teens, the program is meaningful enough to literally change the course of their lives due to the skills, education and self-confidence they gain. * Celebrating and honoring established leaders. Valley Leadership's annual Man & Woman of the Year event is an opportunity for VL alumni and the community-at-large to thank and honor individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the Valley. Here, too, we mark a milestone as we celebrate 60 years of the Man & Woman of the Year awards! * Helping deal with complex issues in the nation's fifth-largest city. In this fast-growing region, we need committed people willing to have constructive dialogues, open minds and the ability to explore and produce creative solutions for important issues facing the Valley. Valley Leadership is a natural facilitator for such activities and plans to continue connecting with other groups dedicated to community enhancement. |
