Greetings!

Well, summer is lingering a little but before we know it the cool and wet will be upon us. I've wanted more warmth in my summer and happy for the warmer fall, but I sure do like the cooler riding we get here in the northwest in October and November. It also means breaking out the cold weather riding gear.

The duct tape repairs have fallen off my trusty old Gerbing jacket, so it is finally time to try out the trick new, warms up fast, jackets we just hung on the shelf. Or maybe get a better brand of duct tape...My old boots have begun to leak too..smelling just right though, so will be hard to part with.

Speaking of old and hard to part with - you will notice the picture of a really cool side car rig above. Kevin and Barbara Brooks have been back to Bonneville and you can read the story here: Bonneville 2010 Wayne hopes to have them in the store in January to do one of our winter presentations so watch for it in the newsletter.

Our 2011 inventory is beginning to show up and we should have demo bikes available soon. Of course we are expecting the K1600GT and GTL but they won't be available until late spring - still no details to share on options or price point.

BMW decided to bring the F800R into the U.S. market and we should have one of those trick little bikes in January for you to examine.

There are a few 2010 bikes left in inventory for those wanting a good deal and I'd love to see them leave - I need the showroom space for the new stuff. BMW announced October promotions for some 2009 and 2010 models with financing as low as 2.9% for 36 months, for example - or an allowance for accessories/apparel. I have a couple 2010 demonstrators to let goof as well; good potential for you on those as well. Give Wayne or Jason a call...better yet, stop in and chat with them.

Our Ural bikes have been selling well and we are down to two Patrol 2WD models. One white and one black. Come in and get one so you can have some real fun when the snow begins.

Same holds for Husqvarna. We have good financing rates available - chat with Jason. His foot is healing nicely and he wants to do a demo day or two.

Our fall Bike Swap is October 15 and 16 which is always a good opportunity to sell, or buy a bike. A bike swap is a consignment event - that is, if you have a bike to sell we will present it, try to sell it for you, and only charge you 10% of the selling price. We do all the financing and sales deal paperwork as well as the DOL stuff. So if Craig's List and eBay have not worked for you, perhaps we can help. If you are looking for a good deal on a used bike then the Bike Swap could be right for you. We usually get a mix of brands and vintage. Check here for particulars: Details

Lastly, Alex has an announcement below on Service Specials and Aaron has a few words on the new line of Schuberth helmets we are carrying.

There you have it for October. Time for Marty to get new boots and jacket to go with the new bike - did I tell you I really, really, really like the R1200GS Adventure?

Sincerely,

Marty Hamilton

Schuberth Helmets

Our initial stock of Schuberth helmets will arrive very soon - about mid month and the new C3 is nothing short of incredible. We have had so much interest, it is probable we will sell out in a few days so if you want to at least see a new C3 you better come on down. Call to be sure we have stock to look at first though. Here's some info: Schuberth

The new C3 also has the ability for Bluetooth connections with your GPS etc. This option is built by Scala, the makers of the excellent G4 system we currently stock in the store.

We also will have parts to recondition your C1 and C2 helmets. Check on pricing.

Sincerely,

Aaron Jennings

July Bike Night

We sure appreciate the attendance at our bike nights and enjoyed the hordes of other than BMW bikes that showed up. We will do more of this next year and hope you will continue to attend, give the dyno a workout, and practice your style on the wheelie machine.

We are moving into our Fall and Winter guest presentation period as the rainy season is just about to start. Accordingly our guest presentation schedule is about firmed up. Please, check the events calendar on our web page in a couple of weeks to see what we have lined up for guest speakers and, of course, watch for newsletter announcements.

One of those upcoming guest speakers will be our own Keith Thye - here's a preview:

In 1963 two guys dropped out of college for a year and embarked on an eight month odyssey from Portland, Oregon to Pucon, Chile, which was about as far South as one could travel on anything resembling a decent road in those days.

The mode of travel were two 1958 BMW R50's and the style of travel was meager, since the entire trip was accomplished on $1,200 apiece. This was nearly 50 years ago, and the experiences and conditions that they experienced will have to be seen to be appreciated.

This is an adventure that you will be able to share with these two guys as they will be together presenting a slide show (yes, a true old fashioned slide show---just like they made back in 1963) at South Sound BMW on Saturday evening, November 13.

Many of you know Keith Thye as he is the President of Ride West BMW and South Sound BMW.  His partner on this trip was Dave Yaden, a lifelong Lake Oswego resident (outside of Portland, Oregon) and a well known figure in the  political landscape and educational circles in Oregon.

A book has been written about this journey and Dave and Keith will be available for book signings at the event and books will be available for purchase.

The presentation will begin at 7:00 PM in the South Sound showroom and, with an intermission, conclude around 10 PM.  Ticket prices are $12 and include hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.  Please join us for this exclusive engagement.

Reservations are required for all our presentations so we know how much food and beverage to have on hand. Please call Katie @ 253-922-2004.

Thank You,

Wayne Elston
