I enjoyed a rather lengthy conversation with a reader of our newsletter concerning our recent focus on the S1000RR and the general direction BMW Motorrad is headed with higher performance motorcycles. It was fun and I appreciate reader contact and input.
Clearly, we are moving forward with new and exciting products and for some of us this is a difficult and puzzling state of affairs. I wish I could convince BMW to bring back the R90S, and forgo their quest for lighter and faster, but my personal influence is limited to that of the consumer - they build what I buy or think I'll be motivated to buy - which brings me to the point. I might, just might, buy one of BMW's upcoming products.
The picture above is of the new 6 cylinder engine appearing in the new K1600GT and K1600GTL. There is a good web site devoted to these products I expect to see in the near term - like maybe next year. I pulled the picture from here:
K1600GT, K1600GTL very interesting information, so be sure to read it if you are thinking of the LT replacement and want to know about adaptive headlights that help you see around corners etc.
(obligatory spam content). Business has been good and the supply of the updated 2010 RT, and GS is virtually exhausted. We do have a couple 30th Anniversary R1200GS Adventures on the way, and I scored a white R1200GS, also on the way. I've been told 2011 units will appear some time in September. Come get your 2010 before they are all gone. Ural bikes are selling well too and we are almost out of inventory. We have two Patrol 2WD bikes and the Red October left, and there is special financing on remaining 2009 Husqvarna bikes with one 2011 TE-630 left.
Wayne Elston created the South Sound "Lost Riders" group and they are off on a two day ride next weekend. He also set up our first Bike Night last Wednesday at the dealership which we figured would be lightly attended. We ran out of food in 30 minutes and had to send Keith Thye out for more.
Look for email reminders from Wayne concerning events he's put together. These events appear on our web page Events Calendar, SoundRider.com, and our facebook page. Wayne has a permanent section of this newsletter too. See below.
A lot of neat riding events are happening this month like the MOA Rally and WSBMWR Rally. Please enjoy and ride safe. We like seeing everyone in the store.
Sincerely,
Marty Hamilton
