This newsletter has a lot of content, so grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the read.
First, I neglected to mention in our last newsletter that South Sound BMW was selected as one of the nations top 100 dealers for 2009. My apology to the boss and my colleagues for the oversight. More so to our owners who give us the tools to work with. I'm sure I can speak for all of us at South Sound.... We really appreciate what Ann and Keith do for us.
Next, we are extraordinarily excited to have added Alexander Guth to our employee roster - Alex is our new Service Manager and I posted his introduction in the Service Section of the newsletter. I've already heard him whisper some German to a recalcitrant GS and of course it jumped up right smart like, and began to run correctly. Please introduce yourself to Alex next time you are in the shop and meet a really cool and talented guy.
S1000RR bikes have shown up and are being passed along to their owners as fast as we can make it happen. One of those owners, who acquired two S1000RRs, is Redline Motorsports and Top Gun Racing. They recently announced that 2009 WMRRA Open Supersport and Formula Ultra class champion Mike MacConaghy will be chasing the #1 plate aboard an S1000RR.
In addition, WMRRA 2010 Rookie of the Year hopeful Moaka Clay will be riding the other S1000RR. Go here to read their entire press release:
Announcement.
It has been a real privilege and eye opener to work with these riders and to see what they are doing with the S1000RR to meet their racing needs. You can follow their upcoming competitive year at:
Top Gun Racing as we will do to see how an S1000RR makes out in our local area. They have a really good facebook page as well - check them out.
Please note that I have some specific content in the S1000RR section pertaining to the upcoming World Superbike race in Tooele Utah. BMW has special pricing on tickets and there is additional information for BMWMOA and BMWRA members seeking lodging for the event. I went last year - had a super good time - and already have my tickets for this year. I'd urge any interested soul to jump on this opportunity now as the available tickets are limited.
There are two guest speaker presentations this month:
The first occurs on March 13th featuring Dave Hooker and his Ural Gear-UP. He will be in the store for the afternoon and make his formal presentation in the evening, beginning 7:00pm. As is usual, we request your reservation so we know how much food and beverage to acquire for you. Please call 243-922-2004 to reserve your space. The cost is $10.00
The second presenter is Jim Balz who will speak to his round the world ride on an 1150GS on March 27th. Jim's presentation also starts at 7:00pm and we request your reservation - please call 253-922-2004. The cost is $10.00.
Both of these events are unique and we urge you to pen them into your calendar - I'm sure you will enjoy Jim's accounting of the people and places most of us simply dream of experiencing, and if you don't want a Ural today - you will after Dave is done with you.
We have a Parts Swap on March 20th - details in the "Parts and Accessories" section below. It is a good thing to participate in.
On April 17th we have our annual Vendor Fair - you don't want to miss it as we will have about 25 unique vendors in attendance and we will also have the BMW Demo Truck here as we did last year. Help us kick the recession in the - well at least come on down for a fun day at South Sound Motorcycles and, if you are really brave, I'll take you for a ride in a Ural.
I just wouldn't feel right if I didn't add a little spam content, so here goes. The 2010 demo bikes we ordered from BMW are arriving with the F800Gs and F650GS in service this weekend. We expect to have the new R1200GS, RT, and Adventure up and running by next Saturday.
The new R1200s we have seen are tasty and sound good too, and I know that will create a big problem for me as I have a few 2009 models left in inventory. Specifically, I have two 2009 demo units, a K1300GT and a K1300S that I need gone so I can put 2010 bikes in their place. How about coming down and work with Stephen or Wayne - get a great deal - and use the current BMW promotion to your advantage? The current BMW promotion ends Saturday. Spam mode off.
Well, I've checked off all the items on my list - new Service Manager, new bikes, S1000RRs go racing, new demos, Parts Swap, Guest presentations, Vendor Fair, WSBK tickets. Looks like 2010 is off to a good start.
Look forward to seeing everyone in the store.
Sincerely,
Marty Hamilton
