2010 arrived a few days ago. Sort of sneaked into my awareness, busy as it has been, so I figured it must be time for a newsletter.
Our S1000RR demo is somewhere in the U.S. on a truck headed for the store. I think I mentioned we have to go to the dealer meeting in Florida to get the ignition key for it - we have to also ride the bike - and I'm discovering the leathers we have in stock are not made for fat old geezers, in fact they fit just like the leathers in my closet at home. The YouTube video of my ride ought to be, therefore, good for a chuckle.
Made some people changes. Kristina Murphy has become our business manager responsible for insurance sales, and a whole lot of behind the scenes work. Additionally, she offers extended warranty and GAP insurance, and other cool things. You should know she just landed us with a new vendor, Zurich, which offers the best aftermarket warranty program going; and it is less expensive than our previous offering.
We are looking for a receptionist so, if you know anyone who might be interested please have them send a resume to
Marty@southsoundbmw.com
While I'm at it, we need a Service Manager. Interested persons should e-mail a resume to Brendan

If you didn't find the BMW motorcycle you asked Santa for under the tree last month....well, I know it's tough...but Santa arranged with BMW to continue the promotional program they had in December on the R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure. I ordered in a few more Adventures as the consequence, and if you have a notion for an RT or an F800ST there is a program for those as well. Check the OEM section of our web site for the specifics - same as in the past; your choice of special financing or $$ off. Wayne and Stephen also have the information if you want to give them a call.
Husqvarna sales are picking up and our demo rides have been well attended, except for one we had to cancel due to weather. Good finance rates remain on 2009 Husqvarna models if you are looking for that extra good deal on a dirt bike. The word is the TXC250 rules the trails over at Belfair.
Our first Ural arrived and was uncrated. I watched a good bit of the part where the screws holding the crate together were located and removed. Then watched the first part of the assembly.
I know that stuff goes wrong when there is an audience, so I left before the "good part" of the assembly began. Anyway, several hours later a green Patrol emerged from the service area and headed out on its maiden ride. A few adjustments later and.....well.....I assure you it runs way better, and handles way better than my 2007 Patrol.
Problem is this; the Patrol is sold after only a couple days on the floor and we are again without Ural. We do expect the very rare Red October to show up any day however.
Lastly, I brought an unused Sony PlayStation into the store. Something to amuse you while you wait for service work to be completed. If you have a need to run the Isle of Mann TT or a Moto GP track you can do it on the cheap at South Sound Motorcycles. Word of advice - don't challenge Jason.
Happy New Year everyone.
Sincerely,
Marty Hamilton
