Galen has been named to the 2009 President's Higher Education
Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or
university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and
civic engagement.

| Galen Will Participate in Race for the Cure |
This year Galen College of Nursing will again be particpating in the Susan G. Komen San Antonio Race for the CureĀ®. Just go to komensanantonio.org and register for the Race. Make sure
you click on 'Join a Team' and type in our team name (Galen College of
Nursing). When you join our team, please be sure to uncheck the box
at the end of the first registration page for the $5.95 shipping fee.
All material will be picked up and available at the school shortly
before the May 1st event. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Eileen Mayo via

Nurse Whistle-Blower Acquitted in Texas A Texas
jury acquitted Anne Mitchell, a nurse whistle-blower charged with a felony for
reporting a physician she believed was practicing unsafe medicine. ANA
president Rebecca Patton called the verdict "a resounding win on behalf of

Group Rates Best, Worst Nursing Portrayals The Baltimore-based group The Truth About Nursing ranks Edie
Falco's "Nurse Jackie" on Showtime as 2009's top TV show for best
portrayal of nurses. Shows with the worst and most demeaning depictions of
nursing include ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and Fox's "House." Read More.
