Wish Tree program assists Galen families

Wish TreeThe spirit of the holidays was alive and well on campus this year. Thanks to the Wish Tree program, organized by Student Services, 18 families and 43 children received clothes and toys for the holiday season.  All recipients were part of Galen student families.

The Wish Tree program was modeled after the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program. Families signed up with Student Services and interested participants could confidentially select a child to sponsor from wish-tags displayed in the lobby.  Sponsors included Galen students, faculty and staff.

Additional donations were provided for Wish Tree families by the Physical Therapy Department of the Commonwealth Orthopaedic Center located in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Students donate bibs to Redwood

The NUR 164 Child Caring Family students, and instructors Natalie St. Clair and Christine Dimaculangan, made adult bibs to donate to Redwood, a clinical facility where assistance is provided to adults and children with disabilities.  The donation included more than 200 adult bibs, wash cloths and hand towels.

Nursing organizations formed on campus

The National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) and the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) have formed on our campus.

The NSNA provides resources for future nurses through conferences, a Career Center and subscription and publication discounts.

The AHNA provides resources concerning holistic care through local chapter and online meetings, as well as through publications and events.

Additional information may be found online.  For enrollment forms, please see Student Services.
