| Getting the Job Done |
|
Seven representatives from area hospitals and home healthcare organizations convened at Galen on April 18 to meet students and promote their healthcare facilities to prospective nurses. About 100 students attended, and each of the employers reported identifying students for future positions. Galen is working on bringing in employers to speak directly to classes later this year - Southwest General Hospital is particularly interested in contacting Galen students. Stay tuned for more information as this excellent opportunity develops. |

| Nursing Offers Many Avenues |
Once nurses get their basic education, the profession offers many avenues of patient care to pursue. Maureen Schneider, a senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, N.J., said, "We have nurses in finance, quality, information technology. Nursing has become a wide opportunity with many different nontraditional roles."
