| Galen students give back |
Galen College of Nursing students understand the importance of giving back to the community and to those in need. Current students and recent graduates participated in community events and fundraisers over the past quarter. Nursing 164 students presented approximately $300 worth of new toys and supplies, as well as a truck full of slightly used toys and supplies, to Redwood on June 5, 2009. The students and their instructor, Natalie St. Clair, raised the donation through personal contributions and a bake sale on campus. Galen's inaugural class donated over $1300 dollars to Relay for Life at the recent graduation ceremony in April 2009. Many students from the class, with coordinator Jennifer Krieghoff, raised the funds and presented the donation to Amy Wilson from the American Cancer Society.

| New registration process a success |
The new registration process for July 2009 classes was a great success for students and staff. The Registrar and Assistant Registrar worked diligently to provide students accurate and timely schedules. Please look for registration information for October 2009 classes during the middle of next quarter. Students will need to submit a completed registration form during the open registration period. We are always looking for ways to improve the process, so please contact the Registrar Alicia at aschwarber@galencollege.edu with any feedback and/or suggestions. |
| Upcoming career preparation opportunities planned |
All students are invited to attend the Career Fair on Friday, August 28 from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm. Human resources representatives from healthcare facilities and representatives from educational facilities will be in attendance to discuss career and educational opportunities after graduation. US Bank is generously providing pizza for students; a sign up sheet will be available prior to the event. Students are encouraged to submit a current résumé and cover letter for review. The Admissions Representatives and Librarian will review each résumé and cover letter and will be available throughout the quarter for a one-on-one review. Résumés and cover letters may be submitted electronically by e-mailing mbrosenne@galencollege.edu, or a hard copy may be submitted to either Admissions Representative or the Librarian. |
