PS: Make sure you read below how the taxi drivers in Delhi are now debating the merits of starting a sentence with the word 'and.'

The mini cup of coffee
Just before Christmas we learned that an innovative promotional campaign of ours had won the top business-to-business direct mail award in the eastern European countries.

It was a campaign which we created for a client of ours: Kell Marketing Design.

As you can see from the picture above, it involved mailing out a mini cup of coffee and inviting the recipients to...

... 'join us for a designer cup of coffee.'

Top selling Irish direct mail book
Writing Direct Marketing Campaigns for an Irish Readership

It's harder than you might think! Because Irish people like to be gently persuaded, or charmed, into buying something, whether it's a new product, an interesting service or an exciting concept.

If you subscribe to the school of Irish marketing executives who believe that all your readers want to read is a single page containing a few bullet points of features, the latest gobbledegook buzz words and jargon ... think again.

Ask yourself... "would this be enough to make me buy in?" Because, in an increasingly competitive Irish market, more and more the answer to this question must be 'no'.

Add some colour to your writing
Your one-on-one personal tuition in persuasive writing. Let's face it! Most of us learned how to write in school, when the only person we needed to impress was our teacher, who never really had to sell anything, or influence or persuade anybody. Since then we've had to make do in the business world with copying the writing styles of our business colleagues whose writing abilities are often far worse than our own.

Treat yourself to a half-day one-on-one private copywriting tuition course this spring.

Ouch! ... "everyone would welcome items of post if they came from you - unlike the card pushed through my door last week which claimed a parcel had arrived and I should phone to arrange collection. The phone number was a premium rate, charging £15 - all part of a scam. How I wish scammers would apply their obvious ingenuity to an honest day's work..."

Sally Hooton, Editor DMA, Direct Marketing International.

Seen on a brochure - but what does it mean? We offer ... 'scalable, end-to-end solutions based on cutting- edge capital effective, thought-ware platforms which empower you to leverage every last ounce from your knowledge capital.'

More banks hit by online fraudsters The latest figures produced from the UK's Association of Payment Clearance Services (APACS) show banks suffered a 55% rise in online fraud to £23million in the first half of 2006. The majority of these losses involve 'phishing' where fake bank websites are used to lure people into revealing bank account details and passwords.

As my Oaktree Press, Ireland, editor, Brian O'Kane, points out... 'who knows we'll have the Taxi drivers in Delhi arguing the merits of copywriting Irish-style.'
