New Internship Opportunity:
Environmental Development Youth Movement (EDYM)
Volta Region, Ghana
A new internship offered in partnership with Seattle-based Village Volunteers, is available in Ghana promoting youth involvement in the restoration and preservation of the environment in rural Ghana.
GHANA: EDYM
EDYM is a rural non-profit organization that aims to promote youth involvement in the restoration and preservation of the environment. Even though it is primarily an environmental NGO, its activities cover a wide range of programs including health, education, eco-tourism and agriculture.

Depending on their skills and the organization's needs, interns may be involved in supporting a youth conservation club, training on HIV/AIDS or leadership skills, or assisting with eco-tourism and small agricultural businesses. This internship is offered in collaboration with Village Volunteers who provides local support and accommodation.  This allows for the interns to more deeply immerse themselves into a rural community that may otherwise be very difficult to enter.

Interns will be expected to assist in developing plans that fit into their fields of expertise and sourcing of resources to execute the plans. They may be involved in such projects as:

  • Working on the organic Moringa farm
  • Supporting and training the Junior Environmentalist's Club (JEC) on environmental issues
  • Delivering training workshops on leadership
  • Delivering HIV/AIDS education

Language Requirements: No foreign language skills are required but interns will need to be prepared to learn basic words in local languages.
