Greetings!

As summer fades in Whitstable Harbour, there are lots of exciting events for the autumn and winter season to look forward to. There are also some exciting opportunitues for local artists, producers and independent traders for next season as we now start taking applications for 2011.
Harbour Halloween and Kent Coastal Week

This October will be a busy month in Whitstable Harbour with two events being staged over the busy half term period.

Sunday 24th October is the day the harbour celebrates Kent County Council's Coastal Week for the first time, with the theme of Taste of the Sea.  There will also be  a creative element with a chance to join people making pebbles for the new Dead Mans Corner seating area.

The following Sunday 31st October is the Harbour Halloween Fun Day organised by the Harbour Village traders with a £25 cash prize to the winning boy and girl in the famous spooky fancy dress competition at noon. All under 14's fancy dress entries will receive a Halloween treat. Myles the Magic Wizard will also be around from 2pm with magic tricks and spooky tales of ghouls and ghosts. So get the kids down to the harbour for some free halloween fun.
Book now for the Whitstable Harbour Christmas Market

All local producers, artists and traders are warmly invited to book now for the Whitstable Harbour Christmas Market on the week-end of 27th and 28th November. You can download a booking application form from the website or from the Quick Links section of this email. This is the third year for the event which features Santa ariving in the harbour and residing in his special grotto in the Harbour Village. There will be live festive melodies from Malcolm J Holland and lots of mulled wine to warm shoppers. There are only about 15 spaces available on the quayside so please book early if you want to be involved. The event also raises funds for the local good causes supported by Whitstable and Herne Bay Lions Club.
Applications now open for the 2011 season in Whitstable Harbour Village

With six extra huts lined up for next season, now is the best time for local traders, artists and producers to make an application for their own fisherman's hut in Whitstable Harbour. The 2011 season will be  the fifth successful year for Whitstable Harbour Village and starts on Saturday 5 March 2011. The village provides an ideal flexible retail unit for small and start-up businesses in the area and will open every week-end and bank holiday in 2011. Many traders also open during week-days in the summer months. Traders can hire a timber hut with power and lights for an entire season at a discounted rate, or just select the months they prefer. The village particularly welcomes artists, crafts-people and food producers from across Kent. Download a 2011 booking application form from the website or from the Quick Links section on this email. If you have any queries please get in touch or pop down and see us at the week-ends.
Whitstable Harbour Village is operated by Kentish Trader Limited with the kind permission of Whitstable Harbour Board and Canterbury City Council. It seeks to offer a commercial opportunity to local artists, crafts-people and independent traders and provide a vibrant and local alternative to "clone towns" and Tesco-Land.
