Three years ago Whitstable Oyster Festival Director, Mair Stratton came up with the concept of a local food and drink celebration by the seaside, as a focus for the famous Oyster Festival.
"High quality food has attracted more visitors from London and given Whitstable its reputation as Chelsea-on-Sea", she explains "so we came up with the idea of EPICentre".
This year for the very first time, EPICentre will contain over 50 of the finest food and drink producers in the region. Whitstable Harbour will be jam packed with local breweries, vineyards, bakers, farms, orchards, game producers and jam makers in a mouth watering medley of flavour.
"The Oyster Festival is one of the key event dates in our diary" says award winning game supplier Phil Miles of Godmersham Game, who will be attending his third consecutive event.
Over 90% of the exhibitors are from Kent, as the event supports local and sustainable foods and locally owned farms and businesses.
Some of this years attractions include a massive Monkshill Farm organic hog roast from Hogs and Kisses, chocolate dipped Kentish strawberries from Madame Oiseau, home made vension burgers from Godmersham Game, award winning local wines from Biddenden, Meopham and Seddlescombe vineyards and refreshing local ales from the Ramsgate and Whitstable breweries.
From cheeses and cherries to olives and oysters, EPICentre is the summer event for serious food lovers.
