It is Not Too Late to Direct  Sow  Your Warm
Season Vegetables  and Flowers

Finally the warm temperatures are here to stay and you don't have to worry about any more frost. You may think it's too late to grow all your favorite vegetables from seed but warm May temperatures have made the soil perfect for sowing your seeds. The warm soil will allow for faster germination and growing plants. Good choices are summertime staples like squash, beans, cucumbers and melons.

Beans

Start planting both bush and pole beans now that the soil and air are warmed up. Try a continual 7-10 day sowing of different varieties. This will give you continual bean crops and not one large harvest with wasted crop.
Beets

Sow beets now for a fast, early summer treat.
Cabbage

Cabbage is one of the easier plants to grow in the garden. Select a variety that is right for your location (size and maturity length). Be sure to fertilize and water when cabbage head begins to form.
Carrots
Planting carrots by mid-July yields a fall crop that will keep in the garden until used.
Corn

One of the most rewarding and fast growing crops to grow. Corn is delicious when cooked only minutes after being pulled off the stalk. Try a small plot of corn, working your way to a large field of several varieties.
Cucumbers

Fast growing vine or bush cucumber plants can produce an abundance of cucumber fruits. Be careful to pick a variety for the space you have in your garden. Vine cucumbers can be the best tasting but need far more space than bush varieties.
Herbs:

Plant heat loving herbs like basil, oregano, thyme and sage.
Melons

Melons are some of the most rewarding plants to grow.

Summer Squash

Summer squash sowing in June will lead to fresh squash and zucchini in July and August.
Tomatoes

The most popular garden vegetable. Growing tomatoes is not only fun but treats you to some of the best tasting fruits in the world. Tomatoes come in many colors, shapes, taste, and sizes. Grow a few varieties every year to find your favorites!

We have over 300 Open Pollinated Seed Varieties for your selection.

Open pollinated or OP plants are varieties that grow true from seed This means they are capable of producing seeds from this seasons plants, which will produce seedlings that will be just like the parent plant.

Growing open-pollinated varieties will allow you a vast choice in the old-time traditional vegetables and flowers. You can grow all sorts of vegetables that are open-pollinated. Along with the positive points of OP seeds there are a few things that some view as negative. One would be that plants can be cross pollinated and you might not thought you were growing. For example if your sweet peppers are too close to your hot peppers you will end up with a lot of hot peppers. Open pollinated plants are not as uniform as hybrids. However one of the delightful parts of growing OP is that they do not exactly look like each and every plant in size or shape, OP will also give better winter storage and intense flavor.

We have went through all of our seeds , combined and categorized a section of only Open Pollinated Seeds. This primarily was done for our customers  convenience  as for then to find all of our OP seeds in one area instead of looking at each page or variety.
