VMT Training: HVAC Ductwork and Access Openings Module Now Available
First of Five VMT Modules; Other Four Modules Available Later in 2011
NADCA is pleased to announce the first module of the Ventilation Maintenance Technician (VMT) Online Training Program is now available. "HVAC Ductwork and Access Openings" provides an orientation to various types of ductwork and the proper methods for creating and sealing access openings. Also covered are basic safety considerations when accessing ductwork, as well as the tools commonly used for this work.
VMT CONTENT The VMT Course is specifically designed to help new HVAC cleaning technicians develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide the high quality of service for which NADCA members are known. Four additional modules of the VMT program will be released later in 2011, and will cover the following topics: - Basic Safety: An introduction to proper PPE, Energy Source Lockout, Ladder Safety, Small Tool Safety, and more.
- Containment - Level 1: An introduction to the proper methods of creating basic work area and HVAC system containment.
- Cleaning Methods: Instruction on the basic HVAC cleaning methods used for commercial and residential projects. This module also covers how NADCA defines clean, in terms of a visibly clean HVAC surface.
- Equipment: An overview of the types of equipment used for HVAC system cleaning projects, including collectors, air compressors, wet/dry vacuums, pressure washers, air washing tools, brushing/agitation tools, and power/hand tools.
USING VMT The Ventilation Maintenance Technician Program is delivered online, making it highly convenient for technicians to work at their own pace. By eliminating the need for travel, training is also highly cost effective. Best of all, the content is consistent with NADCA standards and guidelines, ensuring your technicians learn how to do the job right. The course emphasizes the need for reviewing company-specific methods and practices, so consider pairing technicians with a supervisor to maximize the learning experience.
The modules will run for about 15 - 30 minutes each, with questions mixed in to keep technicians engaged. If a question is answered incorrectly, the technician is re-directed to cover that material again, helping to improve retention of the course material. Each module will conclude with a quiz, where technicians are required to score at least 70 percent to successfully complete the module. Upon successful completion of all five modules (when all five are available), technicians receive a VMT Certificate of Completion. Use the VMT Certificate of Completion to market and promote your company's commitment to training and professionalism to your customers. CAREER DEVELOPMENT Make the VMT Program part of the career path for your company's technicians. Use the VMT Program as part of your company's employee retention strategy by showing your personnel you support their professional development. As an option, use the VMT Program as part of your compensation strategy by linking completion of the course to increased salary.
PURCHASE OPTIONS Technicians receive up to two full hours of real-time access for each module - more than enough time for not only completing the module, but also going back for periodic review as needed.
Currently, only ONE of the modules is available for purchase (HVAC Ductwork and Access Openings). You may choose to either purchase ONLY the available module, or you may pre-pay for the entire VMT course. For those who choose to pre-pay, NADCA will notify you when the remaining four modules are available.
